EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED: I recently dined at Rubinos and was left utterly disappointed by the horrendous service. While the food was commendable, the neglectful service provided by our server Lilli completely overshadowed any positive aspects of the evening.
Despite having worked in the food service industry myself, I was shocked by the lack of attention and professionalism displayed by our server. It was evident that she believed her job was done the moment she saw we were a party larger than 4. (Tip is included for all parties 4+) Our table of 7 was treated with sheer neglect. To begin with, we received a mere splash of water in our cups, accompanied by an empty water bottle for self-refills – a stark example of the apathy that characterized the entire meal.
After finally managing to place our appetizer orders, we waited a grueling 30 minutes without any sign of Lilli. It was only when I took it upon myself to approach her that she acknowledged our readiness to order. Our simple request for extra marinara sauce and napkins was completely disregarded, leaving us without the basic essentials for our meal. What was even more disheartening was the lack of follow-up throughout the evening; the bussers were more helpful than the designated server.
While Lilli spent her time mingling with colleagues at the bar and scrolling through her phone, we were left to wonder why she was paid a mandatory tip for her inattentive performance. This experience made it painfully evident that including the tip in the bill removes any incentive for servers to provide quality service. Her work ethic was appallingly lacking, deserving no more than a mere 5% tip at best.
It's disheartening to witness a potentially good restaurant tarnished by such subpar service. As a new restaurant in the area, Rubinos should seriously reconsider their front of house staff selection and introduce a dedicated front of house manager to ensure a consistent standard of quality. Unless immediate action is taken to rectify this issue, I fear that Rubinos' reputation will continue to suffer from similar negative experiences...
Read moreFirst off, you walk in and it smells like some sort of cleaning solution they use to spray the tables down. Nobody speaks English, I speak Spanish but shouldn’t have to do so when I walk into a restaurant because they don’t understand me. Second, glasses where they poured the water into were all smugged. There was a roof leak we noticed after we ordered that had stains of mold at the entrance and the AC vents were so dirty, the dust was coming down. We ordered a sangria, my husband drank it, said it was okay. We ordered two appetizers, the whipped ricotta was not edible and was and we ordered the focaccia flat bread. We ate two pieces of it and asked for the check. Terrible. Nothing authentic or even edible at this place. The sever asked if we didn’t like it, we said no politely and she proceeded to ask if it was the whipped ricotta, I explained to her this wasn’t the way it’s supposed to look, the ricotta looked spoiled, she took it away, didn’t apologize or even come back to ask if the food had come back okay. The bill came, $68! And the tip for two people is automatically included. What a scam of a place. Do yourself a favor and go across the way to Carniceros, this place is terrible! Terrible service, terrible food,...
Read moreWent out for some errands and saw that Rubino’s was finally open. They had opened two days ago. We are always willing to try a new place, but this was a mistake. The place is beautiful, it has a modern design and decoration and is spacious. Service was slow, we sat for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge our presence. The problem, as the two waiters discussed next to us, was that they were not sure who was supposed to help us. Finally, our waiter took the order. Her tone was different from another customers behind us, where she was making jokes and laughing. Not that I expect that, perhaps it was because we did not order any appetizers or drinks. She brought some complementary garlic roles that were unremarkable. Our entrees were equally awful. The chicken was extremely salty, but that is my fault for ordering a dish with prosciutto, and the side was unappealing in presentation and taste. My wife’s lasagna not much better. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, other customers seemed to enjoy their food. The menu is straight forward and prices are reasonable around 25 per person with tip but not extras. Plenty of parking at this time, since the other restaurant in the mall is now closed. Good luck to them, do not...
