Skippers Dock Seafood Market & Steam Machine — Restaurant in Florida

Skippers Steam Machine is a small, outdoor restaurant along Highway 98 offering a selection of fresh seafood. Not surprisingly, everything on the menu is steamed.

It has a cute vibe and you order and pick up at the windows. Even though it was dinner time in late June and peak tourist season in Destin, there was no line when I went, so my sense is this might be a good dining option for anyone wanting to avoid the massive crowds you find at many Destin restaurants.

The menu is limited but the shrimp I had were fresh and cooked perfectly. They came with cocktail sauce and melted butter. For those with food allergy concerns, the butter appeared to be more like the kind you might get on popcorn at a movie theater, just a guess because it would stay liquid at room temperature, but it did have good flavor and complimented the shrimp well.

There is a small outdoor seating area built on some wooden boards that look like they came from a dock on the Destin harbor which gives it a nice ambiance and adds to the character of it being a seafood restaurant. I took my order to go, but sitting at the tables would be enjoyable on...

Skippers dock seafood is the best seafood boil in Destin, Fl. They have a variety of options. We ordered a boil with snow crab, sausage, shrimp, potatoes, corn and eggs. Everything was very fresh. Their Cajun and house seasoning was our favorite. We also enjoyed the dipping sauces they had to offer. We had a party of 7 and they were able to accommodate us. We appreciated their cleanliness. We also tried their oysters which were excellent! Very casual and laid back, friendly staff. Only outside sitting available which wasn’t an issue for us as we were able to enjoy the weather, but I do recommend takeout if it’s raining. Hands down recommend to anyone visiting Destin. During a last min decision to find food on your first night in Destin, I ran across this establishment. After going inside and making sure it was a place my whole family could eat, I unloaded the van and we proceeded inside. The gentleman behind the counter was not only nice, but extremely helpful. He helped us work through what would be the best purchase based on what all we were looking for. Prices were fair for what we got. However the real gem to this story is what happened once we got home and started to eat. My entire family couldn’t stop talking about just how good everything was. From the shrimp and grab legs, to the corn and potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious, all the way down to the house seasoning and cocktail sauce.
