My family has gone to Stallones for several years. It is/was one of our favorite restaurants until last night. Last night, I went with 5 women (6 of us) & we were treated with such disdain right from the start. We were to be 8 women, but two were not available last minute. Because our numbers changed, the table size changed & the owner told the hostess: "Put them in the 'four booth' & make it for six!" We were unhappy to be stuffed into a booth & did not want to sit there. We were given a choice of that booth or outside. We said that we were originally a larger number, why couldn't we have a larger table as originally planned. They insisted they were reserved & would only give us the booth for 4. If you know Stallones, their portions (& platters) are large & we had a rough time making 4 (as well as plates) platters fit. We ordered 2 platters of combo chicken parm & eggplant parm with pasta. We specifically requested extra sauce when we ordered, but when the food was delivered, there was no extra gravy. From experience, I know Stallones gives extra sauce & usuallyto each persontheir own. So again, we asked for more sauce. ONE small dish was brought to 5 people to put on their very dry pasta & chicken. One member of the party ordered vegetables rather than pasta & asked if there was an upcharge? The waitress, who was professional throughout, indicated incorrectly that there was no upcharge, but when it came to paying the bill, the manager was brought to the table. She looked down her nose at us & declared that the upcharge was usually $8.95, but they were only charging her $5.50 for her vegetables & that it was posted on the menu. (Incidentially, if ordering a soup or salad with your entree, they were only unchanged $3.95, but a vegetable substitution was nearly $6!) And, so it went with a very condescending attitude towards us ladies. What i have to say is the following: we are a group of ladies, usually 9 or 10, that go out to dinner almost every Saturday evening. We enjoy trying new restaurants & are willing to travel beyond our geographical area. We have never been mistreated at any restaurant we've attended. We belong to several organizations & share restaurant information & certainly we will tell other people of our negative experience at Stallones & their attitude towards us. They were not welcoming & made us feel unwelcomed. If the $200 we spent at Stallones was more important to them than making us feel comfortable and welcomed, then they have lost more than they gained. I left a restaurant i really enjoyed in the past & was excited to share with my friends. Although I'm sure my family will continue to go to Stallones, I will never step foot in there again not only because of the way they made us feel while there, but also because of the disappointment I felt after leaving there. RESPONSE TO OWNER: your response is incorrect & exaggerated. No 16 Oz sauce was brought to our table 3 times. We received one small dish of sauce one time, probablyequalling 1/2 to one cup. Certainly 48 ounces (16 x 3) of gravy would have been noticeable! Again, exaggeration on owner's part. Who could put 6 CUPS of sauce on their spaghetti and cutlets? Really?!?! Do you expect your readers to believe that? Let's stick to the truth & the facts. You were not there when our waitress responded to the upcharge question & did not hear her response to our table. The manager said to us that next time the waitress would give a correcti response. Next time didn't clarify our answer. Three of us heard the booth comment. We were not fooled & neither should the reader be. This is not meant to be a war of words. I can understand why you want to white-wash your response to protect your establishment, but we did not leave your restaurant feeling either good or welcomed. That is the key element here. We've never left any restaurant feeling so deflated by your treatment of us. We won't be back & we will...
Read moreThe tomato soup was under-seasoned and tasted like Campbell’s. The calamari was equally bland with an undistinctive breading. The garlic rolls seemed to be breakfast rolls with minced garlic from a jar.
The Snapper Francese was quite good, thankfully, although with the shrimp, it came to $37, ouch! I expected more from a place called “Stallone’s.” Yo, Adrian! Gonna fry now!
We did enroll in the loyalty program and were able to get a free appetizer (the calamari) and dessert (an embarrassingly small, but delicious, wedge of American cheesecake that at first I thought had been halved by the waitress for sharing. I needed an X-acto knife to bisect it)
FOLLOW UP on owner’s reply: As for the “anniversary promotion:” your offer doesn’t say “wedding anniversary” so I did not cheat your offer. Lots of couples celebrate togetherness anniversaries and Melissa and I are together for ten years. Maybe we fudged the date, but so what? You made an offer we couldn’t refuse so we grabbed it. Very petty of you to try to rag me on it publicly.
Robin’s service was good but she’ll never make it in the mob. When I jokingly told her I have a secret but will tell her if she doesn’t tell the boss, she agreed, then couldn’t wait to RAT ME OUT! So much for waitress-client privileged conversation!
As for licking the cheesecake off the knife: guilty as charged. Only because it was SO GOOOOOD BUT SO tiny, that almost as much was clinging to the knife as left after I cut it.
BTW, is that the normal cheesecake portion or the “free promotion” portion? Smallest piece of cake I’ve been served in my 74 years. I’ve had cheesecake at the old Stage and Carnegie Delis in NY and Junior’s and Cheesecake Factory here in Boca. When it comes to stinginess, yours takes the cake.
Loved the snapper, though - generous portion, well cooked and seasoned. Will finish it off tonight. Sure could use a leftover piece of the ambrosia-like CREAMY...
Read moreI dont know who wrote these reviews before or what pallet they are accustomed. I am a foodie and lover italian food especially seafood pasta. I must say this was the worst food I have ever tasted and we ordered all of our favorites. It all tasted like convolesence food and highly unseasoned. The shakers on our table did not help. The calamari was fried hard and had no seasoning, it was like rubber bands. We sent it back. The seafood pasta tasted so horrible I asked the ingredients, and was told clam juice, garlic and olive oil, omg the flavor was the worse I have ever tasted, the pasta was not aldente it was raw. I had it redone and added marinara, which should not be on seafood in my opinion, but that made it worse. My BF had grilled chicken cabornara that tasted a little better but started to taste weired as he continued eating as the chicken tasted boiled and not grilled, and not like chicken at all. We were not there 10 mins when the waitress asked if he wanted a box while his plate was full and I had just gotten mine redon. He said yes. She said she would get the manager who never came but we could see other tables being greated but ours. She brought us a cookie to help with our with our disappointment and the cookie too was horrible and made with the wrong ingredients to be a cookie. Gordon Ramsey would gasp. We trusted the name and reviews. We paid a hefty bill and left hungry. We left the take away and the "cookies". Sadly the waiter tried to rush our take away to us and we told him to trash it. Now we will not eat in Delray Beach today we will drive to a different city after this experience....
