Michaels — Local services in Parkland

I experienced the most amazing customer service at Michael's in Somerset Shoppes Boca on Glades and Lyons on a busy Saturday late afternoon. Nadia was the kindest, most patient and interested employee I have ever encountered in a Michael's...a store with 100 million items. I was in search of a smallish Christmas tree and struck out at 3 stores prior to arriving here. Everyone was sold out. But Michael's had a decent supply of the small $40 trees, which we were purchasing for our daughter. My husband wanted to grab one and get the heck out of there. But I strolled along looking at the slightly bigger and nicer trees on display. One caught my eye and with a stroke of incredible luck Nadia happened to be close by. I asked her if there were any left of this one tree, she said no but I could purchase the floor model which I jumped at. My husband wanted to make sure the lights were working and she was pleasantly on it. Brought it to an outlet and she spent so much time trying to rewire and replug it so each section worked...which was a success. All of this intricate work while she had many customers approaching her with questions, all which she knew the answers to. Exactly which aisle number all of these millions of items were hiding. She even had this headset microphone thing where people were talking in her ear...and she was responding. Nadia was doing a dozen things at once and so friendly and helpful throughout. She even went in the back and located the trees box. You don't see that kind of service anymore...especially in a Michael's. So kudos to this location and their management...they are hiring and training their staff quite well. Our cashier was super upbeat and knowledgeable and so was the cashier next to him...who has rung me up in a previous purchase. Nadia deserved a tip and then some. I will be back to show my appreciation for Nadia and her "going the extra mile" efforts. As well as the other wonderful employee's in this...

Just wanted to share an experience my daughter and I had today at the Michaels off Lyons and Glades. So I usually only leave a negative review if it’s well deserved and this definitely was. We were inside shopping for crafts for her teachers and a woman with the name tag Jolie came over to us and asked us if she could help us. My daughter asked if she had any wooden hearts and she said NO firmly and then said WE ARE CLOSED. My daughter is 9 and didn’t understand why she was so angry with her. I knew she just wanted to go home so I quickly made our way to the cash register. The woman with a name tag that said Nadia began ringing up and bagging our items. My daughter and I noticed she was coughing. I asked her if she was sick and she replied yes. Her nose was actually dripping as we were talking to her and she used the back of her hand to catch the drips. All of our items were bagged by the time all of this happened. We had to go home and wipe everything down with disinfectant No one cared to be nice or protect us from their sickness. ...

I’ve been going to this store for many years... no complaints. I took my diamond painting to get framed. Jolie helped me and she was great at picking the frame and coordinating mat colors. I was really excited and paid a lot since it was so big. I got there and it looked fabulous .. except one of the diamonds had fallen and you can see it in the white mat. I was so upset. I thought they were gonna say too bad.. well.. they didn’t. They told me they were going to open it and fix it and not to worry.

Later, I received a call from the manager, Becky. She explained her concerns that the diamonds would still come off and that she suggests I mod glue it first before we re-frame it again. I am very happy that they care enough to call me and recommend that I take steps before they try again. They care about their customers and you can tell. Thank you Jolie, Becky...
