Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Florida

Absolutely disgusting location with universally awful service. This location is a stain on Steak n' Shakes reputation. Visited last night as a "spur of the moment" meet up with my girlfriend during the week. Although adjacent to a truck stop, some basic cleanliness standards should still apply, and the same goes for standards of service. Arrived after sun down, and upon walking in we stood there for a few moments before being seated. While waiting we noticed the floors were disgusting and sticky as if the entire floor was flooded in soda and just allowed to sit and dry to a sticky mess with trash all over. Once seated things were going well, we ordered our meals and I also ordered a cup of chili as I was extremely starving, in every other Steak n' Shake I've ever had they always bring the chili first before the meal. Well, after getting an incorrect drink order, I knew this was going to be going downhill pretty quick, which it did. My chili was brought out with my burger, which one of the patties was hanging halfway off the burger in one direction, and the other hanging off the other side, glued together by a piece of cheese. Along with my fries which were supposed to be Cajun, of course they were not as ordered. Luckily my girlfriends food was brought correctly and not hanging together by a thread. Unfortunately the low-class family the next booth over was having an even worse time trying to get a simple meal. Once the wife at that table started getting arrogant and mouthy demanding the manager, I knew there was no going back. At this time we decided to hurry up and finish our food and just get out of that disgusting mess. As we were finishing up, the manager comes out to speak with the arrogant and possibly intoxicated woman, and he does nothing but make excuses and disappears rather than take responsibility for not only the experience of these two tables, but also others in the restaurant, one man of which made a scene that he'd been waiting 30 minutes to get a milkshake, poor miserable soul. Going back a step, referring to the excuses of this "manager" he simply said something to the effect of "I'm sorry, we're understaffed because half of my employees tonight called out and we're doing our best" Sadly, there seemed to be plenty of employees(most walking in circles looking at each other nervously instead of doing any good to help the situation) and there couldn't have been more than 15-16 people inside at the time, 2/3 of the place was empty. 0 out of 10, will not...

Today, 10/07/2022, was the first time my caregiver and I had been to this restaurant in almost 3 years. It had nothing to do with Covid at all, it was because of how horrendous our experience was years ago. We had sworn we would never go back. Well, today we had business in the area, and we decided to take a chance one last time to see if anything had changed. Boy were we SURPRISED at the difference! Instead of having to wait almost an hour to get a menu from the servers, we were attended to in less than 1 minute after walking through the doors! A kind, patient, and attentive young man named Michael came right over to us when he heard me say, "What's a kiosk?". He took us over to the self-serve menu and walked us thru it step-by-step. We didn't even have to touch the screen, he did it for us. Since we got there right before 4:00pm, I ordered a milkshake for myself, but when my caregiver said no (because she didn't want to run the bill up as I was treating her to dinner) Michael checked to see what time it was, and he told us about the 1/2 price milkshakes, so she immediately said, "I'll have one too!" That made both of us happy. After we placed our order, we sat down. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, our food was at our table in less than 5 minutes. piping hot and delicious! Last time we had to wait so long, we were there nearly 2 hours, just to get a burger and fries. This time, we were in and out in little over 45 minutes. Throughout our meal, kind Michael checked on us about every 5 minutes to make sure we didn't need or want anything else; for instance, I am an elderly disabled person, and he noticed me struggling with the ketchup condiment container, so he came right over and opened it for me. I've lived all around the world, yet I have seldom received such good attention from a small business such as yours Mr. Jeff. (I'm sorry I don't know your last name) You have an employee who is a credit to your business. Well, I guess I'd have to say you have an exemplary staff, as our food was so well prepared and so scrumptious, and delivered so quickly, that you can rest assured that we will be telling all our friends, families, and co-workers what an outstanding change has occurred since you bought the place. My husband and i stopped in for lunch on the way back home to Georgia. First when we walked in we stood waiting I know 10 minutes before even being acknowledged waitresses steadily walking by looking but I guess they were all mute today not sure but the one girl who did finally come up to seat us after all that time took us to our seats we sat down she took our drink order I ordered a unsweet tea and my husband ordered a coke so she brought back our drinks and then we placed out order I ordered the original double cheese burger with fries and husband ordered the triple with fries so we waited and waited and waited by this time 45 minutes has passed people that had came in after us was getting thier food but we were still waiting so I started telling my husband we could have been half way to Georgia by now after all this time. So then after 54 minutes here comes the waitress with our plates and not the waitress that took our order and seated us either was another waitress who had to bring us out food out cause our waitress went to break REALLY? Ok so whatever we blowed that off and started eating I picked up my hamburger and took a bite COLD AS JELLO the cheese was not even melted in between the burgers the fries COLD And SOGGY I blew a fuse I asked my husband how was his well he threw his back in the plate soon as I said that so right then I knew so he motioned the girl over and went off so she said i will fix it so we told her you know we don't have much time because we are truck drivers and we have wasted enough time as it is not to mention we are on our way to pick up a load before going home so i told her to put the order in to go boxes i wanted a unsweet tea to go and my husband wanted a coke well that went pretty quick maybe 5 minutes she was back with it no discount no sorry no nothing we paid and took the order and left got in our truck got on interstate started to eat well my unsweet tea was a SWEET TEA both burgers had been slopped with so much mustard you could not taste the burger the bun the pickles or the lettuce we just throwed the crap in the bag and the trash it went. We will never stop in this place again not to mention the pilots bathrooms were disgusting I sure wished a health inspector would walk in that place because I guarantee they would not walk out without shutting it down!...
