Updated Rating: 3.5 Stars Updated Review: Based on this business being highly recommended by others, I did very much want to try it. Decided to order ahead using DoorDash for a pickup order. The business layout is rather odd, like a mix-matched set of trailers and buildings. The first visible “pickup” window when you park told me that DoorDash is “inside the restaurant” so I then went to a door that opened into a dining room, but once inside they told me DoorDash was at the outside pickup window only (apparently there are 2 different outside pickup windows.) Anyway, third time was the charm, got my order. Although not much charm, service was prompt, but not friendly…no one seemed to return my smile. The tacos themselves weren’t very good, I come from having had authentic Mexica food once readily available to me, and these tacos were not terrible, but definitely Americanized. The meats weren’t seasoned enough, especially the chicken. Tacos traditionally aren’t served with cheese, and the cheese they chose to add was kind of a poor quality. I also ordered tamales, which are my favorite traditional Mexican food. I was not disappointed by the tamales, taste and portion were very generous. They did fall apart on me, they were wrapped in 2 separate corn husks, as opposed to being fit into one like I’m accustomed to. They also seemed somewhat greasy compared to what I expect, but not unbearably so….assuming they were made with lard like tamales are supposed to be, I don’t really get the privilege of complaining about grease. :)
Oddest thing was that they gave me these large lemon slices with everything…fortunately I have lime at home but lemons really aren’t a valid substitute for fresh lime wedges which would’ve been expected with this type of food.
Original Rating: 1 Star Original Review: Sadly have to leave a 1 star review. They’re supposed to be open 24/7 per their website and Google, but after driving an hour here they said they have no food because they are cleaning the grill, and won’t be done for an hour. They also informed me that Tamales aren’t available until 7. Very disappointed, hopefully I can try...
Read moreTrust me I am not a Karen, but now it's high time to delete the good review I put two years ago because this place has only been absolutely disappointing since then. I and my brothers travel 8miles back and forth (total 16) to come to this place because we love Mexican food. But now every single time they have been successful in messing up my order some way or the other. Every visit I make up my mind to be ready for their mistakes (yes that's how much I love burritos and tacos). Their mistake will either include where they will charge you extra "accidentally" for a whole burrito, or they will charge you 3$ for 4 pieces of lime only to find out it's not in your bag. This is just a little tip of the iceberg about my experience. However, today the limits of carelessness were crossed, hence I am here letting the new comers know what kind of people handle your order. I am allergic to red meat. I clearly told the cashier that I want a CHICKEN wet burrito. The receipt even says "pollo" (meaning chicken in Spanish) but what do I get ?? I get BEEF! This is ridiculous. Tacos al carbon you gotta better than this because I could have been in the emergency department because of your carelessness and lack of integrity. Luckily it wasn't anything very serious because I only took one bite and realised your mistake. Update- I drove back all the way to the restaurant to let them know their mistake because they never pick up phone calls. Upon getting there, I got no apology but instead the cashier (her name Faima) handed me the cash like how you would hand it to a beggar and said "bye bye". I'm finally done with this place and their people. Can't keep wasting my money over...
Read moreI’ve been to Tacos al Carbón before and usually have a great experience, but this last visit was beyond upsetting. I brought my white friend to try authentic Mexican food, hoping to share something meaningful. Instead, we were met with rudeness, disrespect, and what felt like blatant bias from our waitress.
She assumed I was white and treated us with cold indifference. When my friend had questions about the menu, she rushed us and stormed off mid-conversation to help other tables—specifically Spanish-speaking ones, whom she treated with warmth and patience. The contrast was glaring and offensive.
We placed our order clearly: I asked for tacos with a large drink, my daughter wanted tacos with no cheese and a regular drink, and my friend requested a small drink, a glass of water, and tacos with no tomatoes. The only order that came out correctly was mine. My daughter’s tacos were covered in cheese and came with a large drink, and my friend got bottled water and tacos loaded with tomatoes. When we asked for corrections, the waitress gave us attitude and acted like we were the problem. My friend ended up picking the tomatoes off himself just to avoid more conflict.
This was hands down the worst service I’ve ever had at this restaurant. It felt personal, and it felt discriminatory. If this waitress can’t treat all customers with the same respect, regardless of how they look or what language they speak, she shouldn’t be in customer service. I’m heartbroken that what should’ve been a joyful experience turned into one of exclusion and...
