Went to the clam Bake with friends yesterday. My last time there! I requested a booth but was told none was available { but no one seated there } so we were seated on the other side in a half booth. I few minutes later I noticed people being seated in two of the 3 booths we requested. Another party came in right after us, and they seated them at the half booth right next to us when there were half booths empty all the way to the window. Why pack people right next to each other, instead of spreading customers out when the place is half full, is not good management, and not in the interest of the customer, to be seated on top of each other. Then we are told we will have to move to another table if we want to order another dish or drink because they reserved the table for a group that was about to come in and we were supposed to finish our meal by now !!! We were there one hour and fifteen minutes! As usual the wait staff is very annoying the way they want to take away your plate the second you put down your fork. I have witnessed a customer complain to management about this and I thought it was lack of training but I now believe they want you out as fast as they can get you out, and are trained exactly the way they annoy you with the constant trolling of tables for an empty or half empty plate. I come from Rhode Island and can tell you the food is good but portions are not worth the price. $12.99 lunch specials are priced well but you get very little unless you prefer the potatoes to...
Read moreBeing from Boston and loving every bit of New England seafood I was dying to find a place in Fort Myers that had decent NE style sea food. Fresh MAINE lobster, full belly fried clams, real Ipswich steamers, Cod and Haddock. YUMMY. My friends consider me a FRIED CLAM aficionado and boy.... I walked into the place and was seated in 5 minutes, the staff was friendly and very efficient. It was 10 to 6 and the blue plate specials end at six. I asked the waitress if I could try a sample of the fried clams because I was from Boston and didn't want to order the clams if they were bad. % minutes later she brought a small dish with 3-4 clams and I couldn't believe my eyes. I could tell they were perfect . I ordered the clam plate, cole slaw, onion rings and a side of scallops, my wife had the broiled scallops, everything was PERFECT!!!!! What a happy camper I was and still am. I have been back two or three times since ant the fried fish lobster and what ever else I had was just wonderful. Laurie, the owners wife/co-owner is as nice as can be. Great food, great service and great people and reasonable prices??? What more can you ask for. Its my new home. !!!! Bob...
Read moreMy wife and I had not been to The Clam Bake and that was our mistake. We will definitely be back. We were part of a group of eight. We made a reservation and we were seated promptly when we arrived. Cara L was our server and she was fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. We had questions about the menu and the drinks and she answered each question with candor and without hesitation. She was knowledgeable about everything on the menu and could speak just as easily to the one couple in our group from New England as she could the rest of the group who were from the Midwest. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. My wife and I had the shrimp from the Early Bird menu. My shrimp was fried and my wife's shrimp was broiled. While each of us loved our meals, we will be switching our orders next time because each of us raved about our own meals. :) The atmosphere in The Clam Bake was relaxed and professional. Nicely decorated and a pleasant atmosphere. Easy to talk to the people next to you or across the table from you. Do not let the location in a strip mall color your judgement. The Clam Bake is an...
