To get out of the mall where we had just picked up our new iPhones, we decided to stay close and stopped at the Original Pancake House, which we hadnāt eaten at in at least five years. I ordered the dish I almost always order there, which is the Eggs Michael, which is their benedict with a mushroom sherry sauce.
I recall it having a fresher flavor to the sauce than what came out which had canned mushrooms. Also, I asked the server for the potato pancakes because I remember this dish coming with them in the first place -- but apparently, they no longer do. She nodded and said OK, you can have those.
When the food came out, she brought regular pancakes. She apologized because she said she didnāt hear me correctly, but I didn't want to wait another 10 minutes for pancakes to come out, so I took these instead of the regular ones. I didnāt really like them. They were starchy, which I guess is what a pancake is supposed to taste like, but I didnāt love these.
Rachel got some chicken crepe thing, it looked nasty, like a bad 70s Chicken A La King thing you'd seen in a vintage women's magazine made with Campbell's Soup.
The lunch menu is actually more constrained than what I thought they would have. They donāt even have burgers here. They seem to have regular sandwiches like turkey club sandwiches, BLTs, etc. I didnāt see anything that looked like it could be a roast beef or anything like that, so I ordered breakfast. I donāt think this place is operating at the same level as it did five years ago, let alone 10. Probably don't need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Original Pancake House is a breakfast lover's paradise! If you're looking for the perfect place to start your day, then this is the spot for you. But let me tell you, the star of the show here is the Dutch baby pancake. It's the best oven-baked pancake you will ever try, hands down. This sweet and addictive pancake is a must-try, and it alone is worth the visit.
In addition to the Dutch baby, The Original Pancake House also has some amazing bacon. The bacon is cooked to perfection, with just the right thickness and crispiness. It's the perfect addition to any breakfast meal.
But if you're looking for something truly special, then you need to try the Apple pancake. This massive pancake is layered like a pie and is large enough to feed four people. It's an experience in itself and definitely worth trying at least once.
The staff at The Original Pancake House is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.
Overall, The Original Pancake House is a must-visit for anyone looking for a fantastic breakfast in Boca. Whether you're in the mood for the addictive Dutch baby, the amazing bacon, or the unique and delicious Apple pancake, you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo start, the service from our waiter was just okay not terrible, but definitely not welcoming or helpful, especially for a first-time guest. The menu itself is quite confusing, and there was no effort made to make it easier to understand. As for the food, it completely lacked flavor or seasoning. The pancakes were bland and only tasted decent after drowning them in syrup which was overly sweet to the point of being unpleasant. Even the coffee was poorly made. What truly made the experience worse was the behavior of an employee named āJujuā (or āJoJo,ā Iām not sure of her exact name). She was shockingly unprofessional and disrespectful yelling and arguing openly in front of customers and coworkers. It was uncomfortable and embarrassing to witness such behavior in what should be a friendly breakfast environment. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences Iāve ever had. I expected so much better from a place with such a strong reputation. I will not be returning to...
