Sheryl recommended this place for dinner. Had never heard of it, but it came highly recommended by some local foodies. Had a reservation at 7, so we went to the Pier before dinner. Arrived a little early and got a table inside. Cute place and the menu looked good. A little overpriced, but this is Naples, after all.
I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. $17... Seems pricey for a salad, but paid $6 for a 1/2 salad the night before at Lansdowne Street that I could barely finish. When the salad arrived, I was shocked it was so small. Hardly any lettuce. The chicken was delicious, the goat cheese was good... But it felt like a sample. So when the server asked how everything was going, I told her. Then a manager, maybe the owner, comes over and starts asking me about the salad. I explained that I had a salad the night before that was huge for a fraction of the price. She asks, “Did it have goat cheese on it?” No. “That’s why,” she says. I explained the salad was huge, had different meats, cheeses, etc. It felt like she was arguing with me... Didn’t sit well.
When the server comes back she asked again how everything was. She was good... Told her she was in a better mood than her boss. She laughed and the lady comes back to the table. She asked if I would like to leave... Then told me she would have got me something else. Why didn’t she ask me if I wanted something else before? Then she tells me she, “hope I never see you again.” She also said I was being “nasty.” I wasn’t. As a matter of fact, I was in a great mood throughout dinner.
On top of all that, throughout dinner I noticed she was playing games on the iPad. Oh, and someone must have dumped salt on the table because I noticed her pour salt in her hand at a table then toss it over her shoulder.
The food was great. Just small portions. It was also overpriced. But the experience I had with this lady put a sour taste in my mouth. She didn’t want me to come back, anyway. I won’t. I assure you. Hope others that dine here have a better experience than me. Because that was not what I...
Read moreI have visited the real mccaw several times and enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately tonight (on Thanksgiving) I had the WORST experience of my life with any restaurant EVER. I made a reservation several weeks before the holiday and was excited to go. The reservation was for 4:30 on Thanksgiving. At exactly 4:28 as we were pulling into the parking lot they call my cell and canceled my reservation claiming mechanical issues. I said I will be right in to speak with them. I show up 2 minutes later. My car is filled with 3 other people 2 being senior citizens. And the manager refuses to tell me what is actually wrong…yet the restaurant has people sitting down enjoying their meals. One of the kind ladies said she could seat us but the manager demanded that they can’t take any tables on. But says the food is all already cooked??? The one star is for the food they comped us to take home, that we ate in our hotel rooms. Out of curiosity my husband called the restaurant at 8:30pm that night. 4 hours after the cancelled our reservation and they were still open and could hear people at the restaurant. If something was actually wrong and they were turning tables away at 4:30 why would they still be open 4 hours later. This horrendously mean manager completely ruined our thanksgiving and I find her attitude completely absurd. We actually live in Naples (and have been at the real mccaw at least a dozen times & have recommended many times) but have some work going on to our house so we’re staying in a hotel on 5th for two weeks. I can’t get over how beyond ridiculous this evening was and I will absolutely never ever return. Eating Thanksgiving dinner on my hotel bed with plastic utensils and NO LIQUOR is a new low for our family. To be clear I like this restaurant but one bad egg can ruin everything! And the straight blonde haired girl who is the manager should be FIRED...
Read moreWe revisited one of our favorite restaurants- oh no tell me it’s not so… it just wasn’t the same. We like to enjoy our drink before ordering but felt pressured by waitstaff. We ordered the calamari- it was inedible. The green onions were so strong that it overpowered the taste of everything else, calamari was soggy and sauce was just ok. To be fair the waitress removed from our bill. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin and was disappointed w/ sweet potatoes instead of mashed. My filet had an off putting taste but could be the seasoning I disliked. We felt rushed, we feel the food didn’t have that delightful freshness we experienced the 1st time dining. We were out of the restaurant in 70 minutes. Unsure what changed, or just an off night but it was disappointing. Unsure of our return.
Original:What a delight. Colorful, fun decor inside w/ great music playing. Service was the best we’ve had since before pandemic. Started w/ Calamari it a great sauce w/ a touch of arugula- so fresh. The cornbread beignet served w/ smattering of strawberry butter was warm and tasty. Our entrees carrot cake stuffed pork tenderloin & file in red wine sauce was perfection. We then made our way to the outdoor bar that has such a cool vibe. Live music was outstanding and my n/a mojito was refreshing and oh so good. Thank you for a...
