I have eaten here several times in the past years and always enjoyed it. This made today's experience even more of an unpleasant one. Called in and ordered the breakfast bowl with ham, and had to repeat my order at least 3 times. Waitress said my phone was not clear, and later said that the phone she was on was "yucky".
My order was a take out, and if I had known how it was I would not have tipped as all, let alone well. When I got to a scenic pull off to eat in the car and I noticed the gravy was on only the hash browns and the eggs were separate as if it was a regular egg breakfast and not a bowl meal. I discovered the ham, a whole slice, wrapped separately. There were no utensils in the bag, no napkins, and absolutely no salt or pepper included.
There was raisin toast, which was a dual surprise as the meal did not list toast on the hash brown bowl, and I was never asked what toast I wanted (which I did not). The 3 apple butter packs were an unpleasant surprise as someone had to pick the un-wanted condiment up with their hands and put it in the container touching my food! THAT IS YUCKY! I discarded any food that had touched the packets.
Luckily I had a plastic fork in the car, and mixing the food up like a bowl should be I discovered no cheese on the hash browns. I had ordered two slices of cheese. The mushrooms looked like they came straight from the can and the onions were mostly raw, not cooked or properly caramelized. The gravy was bland and tasted of flour.
This was the worse Waffle House food I have ever eaten since my first visit to one in 1975, and the raw onions gave me indigestion! I will NOT be patronizing this...
Read moreThe food was good and cooked the way it was ordered. I wish I had the forethought to get names. My sister and I were there around 9 am this morning. Our waitress was somewhat pleasant but not attentive. The cook was much more engaging. As was the waitress with tattoos on her right forearm. My only grievance with the cook and tattooed waitress was, our waitress failed to ask or offer sugar for my coffee. And when I asked the cook he went to hand it to me. Only for the tattooed waitress to grab it from him to give it to me. Thankfully they were all wearing masks. What bothered my sister & I the most was the condition of the bathroom and the diner floor. (Both in need of mopping) Our table was not wiped down prior to or during us sitting there. Our waitress didn’t wipe down the menus after we ordered. (Making us wonder if they were wiped before they were given to us.) The unused jelly and creamers were put back with the rest. Considering the current pandemic this greatly concerned us. While seated I attempted twice to get our waitress’s attention to pay. I placed my card on the napkin holder, where she had placed my bill. At one point I had them in my hand. And was holding them out, only for her to walk by, completely ignoring me. I love Waffle House. But after this experience, the next time I enter one. I will check the whole place out (along with staff) before I sit down. I highly doubt I’ll return...
Read moreI get the impression both from the failure to cook their food like others in the chain, observations, and the frequency of the orders being wrong that this restaurant is for teaching. It is only a few blocks from me, so I kept going back hoping that it would become better. Some times it is ok. But today they got both of our orders wrong in a big way. They had a few other customers, but it was not busy. There is nothing to account for the errors other than pure incompetence. Fortunately, there is another Waffle House near the corner of Hwy. 29 and Nine Mile Road. That location almost always gets the order right and cooks the food as well as most Waffle House restaurants. Possibly because of their competence, they are more likely to be crowded, but that is where we will go for Waffle House food...
