I came here tonight for dinner with my husband and family expecting a chill laid back dinner but didn’t expect to be the center of a show.
Upon arrival of this establishment we were greeted by the hostess and gave her our party size to be seated. She noticed our service animal since my husband is a retired disabled veteran and told us we might have to be seated outside due to having a dog. We asked if that applies to service animals? She said to wait while she checks and came back in telling us it’s ok and sat us at a table in the middle of the dining room.
We sat down and were given menus when I excused myself to go to the restroom. I walked back to my table to see the manager speaking with my husband and I got the end of the conversation where she was saying that we need to be considerate of other customers. This made my husband very upset because now everyone around us has stopped eating and talking and begins to listen in on our interaction. The manager leaves to get the owner/manager, I ask what did I miss and was informed by our cousin that we were asked to move outside but without clear reason why. The owner/manager comes over and tells us he needs to be considerate of his customers and dogs included service animals by the looks of it aren’t alllowed inside because what if and I quote someone is allergic to dogs.
This interaction almost brought my husband to tears because after seeing one other table with a Vietnam veteran approach him and tell him we did nothing wrong and to enjoy our dinner the management wanted to go on and say well that is one table. He then goes around checking in on every table around us and loudly saying he’s just making sure everyone is good and happy in a very condescending way.
Our waitress Raven was amazing to us especially after all of that and even brought a bowl of water for our dog. The few tables around us all gave their condolences to us and I am glad to say that with my husband being blind as well he didn’t get to witness the smirks and laughing coming from management when seeing our interactions with other guests that he was worried would have a problem seeing a service dog doing exactly what a service dog does which is laying under my husband out of sight.
I was utterly appalled by his lack of knowledge with laws that I even doubted myself and had to check what Florida and ADA rules are… and came across this stating
“ Under Florida law and the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), people with disabilities may bring their service animals to all “public accommodations,” such as restaurants, museums, hotels, and stores.”
We just wanted a quick and easy dinner after spending an afternoon at the fall festival at Lakes Park where my husband was already overwhelmed being at to now being the center of dinner and a show.
We will be crossing this establishment off our list for any Veterans Day celebrations and...
Read moreI went in this establishment with my cousin and his family for dinner. My cousin is a retired disabled veteran with a service dog.
Upon our arrival, the hostess asked how many we had and I told her five and then she noticed that we had a dog and was like oh we might have to see you outside with the dog and I said, even if it’s a service dog. So she asked us to wait and then came back and said it was fine. We were able to sit in the dining room.
She sat down at an 8 top table in the middle of the restaurant and told us our server would be right with us. She came back a few moments later and asked if we were willing to move, but did not give us a reason why so my cousin asked to speak to a manager for a better explanation.
A woman came over and really couldn’t give us an answer either so then the owner/manager came over and told us that it was because he wanted to make sure everyone around us was comfortable with a service dog sitting around them because of allergy reasons is what he told us.
This manager/owner was more worried about everyone else other than a retired disabled veteran with a service animal that Florida law allows to be in any establishment, even if private owned. so I’m not sure why he was trying to discriminate against my cousin and his service animal, but it was a very uncomfortable situation.
My cousin was very upset, but several gentleman walked up to my cousin after the management walked away and shook his hand and thanked him for his service, and I am assuming the men that walked up to him were retired vets as well one gentleman actually had tears in his eyes from how upset he was and how they treated my cousin in this situation. My cousin said to him that we were about to walk out and he said no I wouldn’t let you do that.
It’s very upsetting to know that a retired disabled vet was treated this way. There’s so many things wrong with this country but the lack of respect for men that have fought for our freedom is really disappointing.
This used to be one of my go to restaurants to go to as I live very close by, but I will never go back again because of how we were treated mainly because of how my cousin was treated.
Our waitress Raven was amazing and I thank her for...
Read moreIf you order take out from Wings and Rings double check your order before you leave. We were missing items when we got home. I contacted the restaurant the next day rather than drive all the way back for the missing items. I asked for a credit for the missing side item, so I could get one the next time. But to my surprise I was blamed for the store's mistake. As crazy as that sounds because I used a Reward Program promotion. The rep reasoned that since I had used a promo code to save money on the order I was owed nothing. Instead of apologizing for screwing up the order and not including an item on my togo. In fact an apology would have been fine. But blaming me and saying they would not being giving me any credit or coupon to get another item next time. Well, customers should know this. Today customer service is really suffering. I could have driven right back to the store and asked for a replacement, instead I took the time to contact them through the website the next day. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's just a matter of taking care of it. But by blaming me for using a coupon and reasoning they would not be replacing anything nor appologizing, they get an angry customer that will shame them for this poor service. I think it's obvious they should take the high road, so to speak, make it right, even if you think saving a few bucks is the way to go. Buyer beware and double check your order because if it's missing an item, it's most likey going to...
