Disappointing.
Some of the reasons were beyond the staffâs control, such as the infant that screamed for nearly 15 minutes, and the parents who let their children run free and shout to each other from all corners of the restaurant.
I ordered fish ânâ chips which came with pineapple coleslaw.
The slaw had a hint of citrus flavor that did not taste anything like pineapple and did not play well with the other ingredients in the salad. In short, it tasted pretty bad.
The fish, cod, was cut into perfect little rectangular prisms which was the first hint that they were frozen, and the lack of taste was ample evidence it had been stored way too long. The fish appeared flaky, but turned to mush in the mouth, and the outside of the batter was hard, and the inside was greasy â all indications that it was cooked too long in oil not hot enough to support the desired outcome.
The batter, advertised as a beer batter, may have had a can of beer waved at it, but the can was empty long before the process.
The chips were just that â potato chips sliced and deep fried in Irma Jeanâs kitchen. They were not of uniform color, so it was obvious they came from two, or more, batches. The real problem, though, is that âfish nâ chipsâ is a dish that confuses too many Americans. It is a British dish that contains fried potatoes â French fries or, better yet, deep fried potato wedges with the skin left on. Just another way to cut costs at the dinerâs expense.
The entire meal was served at room temperature. Cold food (slaw, etc) should be served cold. Hot food (fried fish, etc.) should be served hot.
The sweet iced tea was excellent.
I found it disconcerting the teenage busser usurped several of the wait staffâs roles. Perhaps hiring more wait staff at decent wages would help. Seems like just another way to squeeze more out of employees without fair compensation.
Our server was excellent and the sole reason the review did not receive a...
Read moreYikes. I am sad to see this place has gone down the path it is in now. Came here for drinks with some friends about a month ago and wanted to take advantage of the nice weather with the patio. My friend and I stood by the door for 20 minutes and no one even looked at us to seat us. We thought maybe we were on candid camera and were some part of an experiment in human patience! It was not super busy, so we were puzzled. Our other friends hadn't arrived yet, so we committed to staying and sat ourselves in the bar area. That upset the bartender and when she did come over to us she complained about how busy she was and asked us what we wanted. We ordered drinks and then I asked for a water and an order of pretzel bites she rolled her eyes at me and legit said:"I can't make any promises" snd walked away. That response was so terrible in the sense of customer service that my friend and I laughed and again wondered if we were secretly being filmed for some.sort of a game show. There were regulars that received decent service around us, but I must have really made her upset when I tried to spend money there and ordered food. As more friends joined us, she continued to act put out every time we ordered. When the pretzel bites did arrive, I was pleasantly surpirsed and they tasted great (1 star for that!). We all started to feel like we weren't welcome there, but still wanted to hang out so we left and went to BJ's, which was night and day from this experience. I'm in the service industry, so I understand how difficult it can be when it is busy, but this establishment was not busy, so there was zero excuse for all this I do hope they get it together, as their food is decent, but I'm out and will never...
Read moreIt was my very first time at Irma Jeans.
When we walked in, we were immediately seated with no wait.
Our waiter was friendly.
We ordered the champion wings, chunkd tots, and potato skins as our appetizers, but they all came out together with our meal.
I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta with the champions wings (sweet and tangy). The grilled chicken on top of the Cajun pasta was delicious and very flavorful, but the pasta underneath had no flavor.
My husband ordered the Ziggy burger with potato skins. The burger wasnât bad at all.
Our friend ordered the smoky mountain burger and the chunkd tots. I wasnât a fan of the pineapple coleslaw that was in the smoky I mountain burger and the barbecue sauce was pretty good. The tater tots were definitely unexpected. The tots were loaded! Very good.
In the middle of our meal, the waiter asked us if we needed anything and made sure that we werenât going to need anything for the next 10 minutes because she had to go take a smoke. Ummm Thatâs probably something you shouldnât disclose to a customer.
And of course, you guessed it, when it was time for us to get our checks the waiter was nowhere to be found.
Eventually I was able to flag her down and she said she would get our checks together.
About 30 min later I finally decided to physically go get her.
When she came back to our table she said that there was something wrong with the machine thatâs why it took soo long.
But even when we got my check, all of our items were mixed up on each otherâs check.
It was taking way too long to get things sorted, so we just decided to pay a large sum of cash that covered all the costs and told her to keep the change.
The food was decent, but we probably...
