Dragon City — Restaurant in Foley

My husband and I visited this restaurant after being tired of the surf and turf we've had around the beach areas on our road trip.

We were visiting from Houston, TX where there is a very densely populated Asian community and one of the biggest chinatowns in the state of Texas. So after seeing the other reviews before visiting, I felt the need to give my own rating for this restaurant after viewing some of the negative reviews. The main negative reviews I saw were: Mongolian Beef and broccoli had a bad texture, food came out cold, and service was poor.

My intention with giving our honest review is to help others get a more thorough idea of what to expect versus seeing a negative nancy try to rip an Asian family owned restaurant a new one.

We ordered the General Tso's, Kung Pao Chicken, egg rolls, Mongolian Beef and Broccoli.

As most Chinese family owned restaurants -- yes, it's not American customer service, but they're giving the expected service you'd get from a Chinese own restaurant -- Mild service where they want you in and out so you're not waiting and good food so they can efficiently move on to the next considering English isn't their first language.

I've included photos and given the following ratings with my explanations below. I do want to advise our food came out very hot and the wait was less than 15 minutes.

General Tso's solid 10/10 -- sauce was perfect between sweet and spicy, chicken was fried and tossed in sauce perfectly, and meat was tenderized correctly. Broccoli was a good crunch on the stem, but soft by the florets.

Kung Pao Chicken is a solid 11/10 -- chicken was fried and tossed in the sauce perfectly, you can really taste the five spice and it's probably one of the best I've had. You can clearly taste the spices and it pairs perfectly well with the steamed rice. Meat was tender and the baby corn stalks were the perfect crunch. This was probably one of my favorites.

Egg Rolls 6/10 -- this wasn't really filled properly and there was more egg roll wrapper than filling, but I give it a 6 for still tasting good and was fried to perfection.

Mongolian Beef and Broccoli is a 7/10 -- the beef was overly velveted. It was far too tender to the point that you couldn't tell if it was beef in terms of texture. Veggies were perfectly tossed in the sauce and went...

I have been coming to this place since they opened. I order from them at least once a month. The last few months I have seen their accuracy slip. I know it is not the person taking orders. They always repeat order back to me. Someone is not doing their job properly. Just a quick example. Tonight I ordered the garlic shrimp and the vegetable delight. What I received was some sort of chicken and veggies and the vegetable delight. You guys have been my favorite Asian restaurant in foley for years, but the last 3 times I have ordered it has been wrong. I would love to receive the correct order from yall... hell this would be a 5 star review aside from these recent screw ups. Again I love yalls food. Even when you get the order wrong it still tastes great. But I expect to get what I have paid for. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that provide a similar product to yours. Not once have I ordered something from one of those restaurants and received something completely different. Please, please see to it that issue is corrected. Dragon City Chinese is located off Hiway 59 s in Foley Alabama at the end of a small strip mall. Fast ordering service, a few tables inside but mostly set up for to go orders. Made fresh to order. Very clean. We had the mushu chicken which is delicious and a lot for leftovers or enough to share and the Mongolian chicken was also plentiful. We also had crab rangoons. Some meals come with steamed white rice and egg roll. No MSG and I can tell by the way the food tastes and I didn’t get a headache afterwards. Drinks are self serve. Handicap parking and entrance.
