Edit: I emailed them, as their reply requested, 10 days ago. No reply. It seems they want to be SEEN as addressing issues more than they actually want to address them.
Synopsis: the resturant wasnt clean, the servers didnt communicate problems, and our orders didn't match their description on the menu.
My wife and I visited 7/31/25 and it was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences we've ever had. Immediately upon entering we noticed an off smell, not exactly bad but not clean either. When headed to our table our shoes stuck to the floor with every step. Dirt, stains and debris were everywhere. The whole restaurant was like that. Pictures attached.
When seated our booth was in front of a window, the only window in the restaurant that had the blinds up. The low angle sun was blinding so we asked our server to drop that blind like the others. She smiled and agreed to but it never happened. I overheard a snippet of her talking to the other server about it and feel like there may have been something wrong with the blind but she never touched base with us about it. I get if something is broken but if you've agreed to do something and can't at least let the customer know so they don't feel ignored.
When the food came out the taste was OK, not stellar but OK. However we had 3 items not made per their menu description. My wife's Eel roll didn't have any avocado in it. We brought it up to our server and she seemed annoyed but said she could get us a side of it if we really wanted. We did. There was little eel in it and without the avocado it was 95% rice and just sad.
My Tour Bus roll didn't have the crabstick in it. It was still good, tastiest of the visit but not everything I ordered. I also ordered a Southside Sake cocktail, the menu specifically says it's made with fresh muddled mint. That sounded great on the hot day. When it came out though it was clear there was no mint in it. I brought it up the server and she got the server who made it. The second server said it had mint syrup in it because their manager refused to get them fresh mint. Fresh mint and mint syrup are not remotely similar in a drink. Not her fault but not what I ordered. I set it aside and asked her to take it. She walked away leaving it there. After about five minutes she did come over and take it. It was not on the bill. This was another place where communication would have eliminated a bad customer experience. If you don't have what's needed to make an item like it's supposed to be made then have that conversation with the customer and offer the substitution, don't just do it and hope they don't notice.
Sushi nights are our date nights and the one splurge we allow ourselves so a visit where everything was solidly below average is a huge disappointment. We will not be returning to this location again and will seriously reconsider ever going to any Rock N Roll Sushi...
Read moreIf I could give this location zero stars I definitely would. We travel every year to Orange Beach and we were super excited when the world opened up and allowed us to travel again. I decided to go shopping and grab a little something to eat while I was there. Now… don’t get me wrong I totally understand the shortage of people working, one should appreciate the customers and service you are receiving. When I walked in, I read a sign that said please wait to be seated. So I waited. I was asked if I wanted to sit I the bar I replied no. I would like a table. The hostess POINTED and said you can sit back there. I gave a look like huh! She said we’re right behind you. So I asked for sweet tea to drink and it was brought to me in a small styrofoam cup, but the next set of customers that were kindly seated after me received there beverages in red cups. Although I had already placed my order, I questioned the waitress about what had just occurred she stated that the cups were not clean when I placed my order but did not give me the option to wait or even bring my beverage in the right cup. The waitress started to raise her voice about the incident so I asked for the manager. The manager came. I asked her how was she doing she stated… I’m doing. 🙄. I explained to her what happened from the pointing to my seat and the beverage incident. She said it was not a big deal. So I asked for her manager. The owner, Russell, was there. He stood in the wall, instead of coming to my table, and explained to me that his staff had been working long hours. I asked him what did that have to do with me and getting good customer service? He continued to make excuses for this poor service. I walked out angry and disappointed. I walked back in to ask for Russell’s bosses name. He laughed and said my boss? I said yes, you are part of franchise and I wanted the information. He gave website information and I left. No one should EVER receive this type of piss poor customer service. I hope they will make the necessary changes for ALL of their willing to pay customers. Please treat your customers with respect, no matter the circumstances. It is NOT our fault that your employees are not coming in. With service like this and from the looks of other reviews, you keep doing what you’re doing and will reap what you are sowing. Read moreLet me start by saying that I have visited Rock N Roll Sushi in Foley many times since they opened so this review is based on my collective experience. (I've only sat down in the restaurant a handful of times as I usually get to-go orders.)
Customer Service: If I'm being real honest here, your service is going to vary. You can have an excellent experience one day and then a negative experience the next. Some days the employees are in great moods and seem happy, other days they look/act miserable. My first few experiences were pretty awful so I did go months without giving them another chance but lately, I've had much more positive experiences! {Shout out to Zack (Zach?)}
Food: Sushi is my all time favorite food so I have, of course, tried several of their rolls but my go to is actually just their cucumber salad. I order this weekly, sometimes several times during the week! I've tried both the regular rolls (Classics) and their specialty rolls (Headliners) but I have not been impressed with the taste of some of what I've tried. And for the price, you'd definitely expect better tasting sushi. A few that I have tried have been fishy or just kind of bland but this doesn't mean that they don't have good ones. I do enjoy the Tommy Lee roll! And definitely prefer the Headliners over the Classics. But again, my go to is the cucumber salad and their shrimp nigiri with some spicy mayo. My husband has enjoyed their hibachi and my kids like the chicken teriyaki and LOVE the cucumber salad.
Pro Tip: If you're going to get a to-go order, definitely order way ahead of time. It's gotten a little better (10-30 minutes for my salad/nigiri) but I've had to wait 45+ minutes for a single to-go cucumber salad more than once. I've worked in restaurants (sushi/hibachi included) so I absolutely understand that to-go orders can take time, especially when you have several, but waiting almost a full hour for a cucumber salad is wild. It seems like maybe they've come up with a little bit better of a system for to-go orders though.
Overall, 4/5 stars, I would recommend Rock N Roll Sushi! If you have had a bad experience in the past, I do suggest giving them another try before 86ing them...
