Made a dinner reservation for 7:30, but our table was ready 20 minutes late - when we were brought to our table, the table was not ready and was covered in dirty dishes and food all over the seats and floor surrounding it. Had to stand there while they quickly "cleaned" it.
Ordered, food came out in literal moments, there is no way it is made fresh to each order - our appetizer was cold, portions were downright rude, all of the food was bland. We decided to not be haters and give the dessert a chance, they brought us a badly burnt black creme brulee.
We got sick that night, both of us puked. We called in because of this, saying we wanted some sort of reimbursement if possible because we were willing to ignore the terrible experience but us getting sick definitely warranted some sort of credit.
They offered me $50 gift card for the $100+ dinner I paid for, I insisted that we were given something more than that considering I vomited everything up. They very graciously gave me two $50 gift cards instead!
New Years Eve came, we wanted to use the gift cards and give them a 2nd chance. We called in trying to place an order, we were told they were too busy to take orders and to call back at 7pm. We called back early around 6:30pm just to be safe, and were told they were closing their kitchen and not taking anymore orders. Someone else quickly came to the phone and offered to take our order regardless. Said they'd call us back when the food was getting made so they could give us a pick-up time!
I was there at the pick-up time exactly, the food was sitting in bags already made, it had been sitting. We rushed home, and every single thing we were given was just absolute garbage. The chicken was amazingly soggy and bland, the mushu pork was extremely tough and sinewy, the chow fun was aight, but the beef was also oddly bicarbed, so it was fake-tender, just soaked in baking soda. My banana cream pie looked rotten and brown, the cheesecake was alright I guess. We didn't puke this time.
Hands-down the worst dining AND to-go experiences we have ever had in our entire lives. I could not fathom going here again willingly, I grew up my entire life thinking fat's was super fancy and high quality, so this being my first time going, I had at least remotely higher expectations than Panda Express at least, but honestly you could get better food there than here. I'm sure when there are certain cooks/employees working there is some nice fresh food getting put out, but it's not worth the gamble.
This place genuinely sucks, and I'm not saying that out of spite, I'm just truly taken aback by how bad this all was through...

Their Pan noodles were tasteless and not cooked enough. I couldn't get our waitress the entire night. She delivered one drink and the other wait staff covered everything else. We were a party of 3 that paid 200 dollars for our meal. I personally ordered the "Szechuan Beef" which the chef was supposed to: toss beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, crushed red pepper and garlic in non-metal bowl. Cover and refrigerate 20 minutes. Heat oil in wok or large skillet over high heat. Stir fry beef until no longer pink, 5 minutes.
He kept dipping my Szechuan beef into flour or the corn starch and frying it!!! What tha hell? I had a waiter that wasn't even designated to wait our section take it back and explain to the chef I don't want my beef dipped and fried. A female hostess brought back a second and it was again dipped and fried. The whole experience was turning bad. I contacted a manager and she is a night manager on Sunday so she's lucky I forget her name but I've seen more personality from a storage drain. She was very cold and non professional. She did nothing about the waitress that would never come to the table so I simply said take this beef back and we'll take it to go. Again! I told her personally not to dip and fry my beef. That's not how you make Szechuan Beef. The corn starch goes a little in the gravy part but you never dip your beef and fry it in that dish. Un Freaking believable!!! The to-go Szechuan Beef was again dipped in flour and fried. My mother is disabled and reaching for rice she accidentally spilled my 50 dollar drink. It was full. You better believe she wouldn't replace my beverage. That manager never even offered napkins! She was rude and she made excuses as if my sister and I were retarded. We're in our 40's BTW. Horrible! Panda Express has better Chinese Food. This food is so over priced one can only wonder but if the chef can't even prepare something simple or listen to detail on top of rude staff members then who needs to spend 200 dollars for food that worse than fast food....
Read moreI've been to Fats Asia Bistro twice. The first time was for my birthday dinner with fiends, and while the food and experience were great, I wouldn't take the time to write a review. But I was so moved by yesterday's experience that I had to share.
It was our 9 year anniversary and my wife and I were wanting some kind of Asian fare. We settled on Fats. I called in ahead of time as I do with most restaurants to ask where the beef is sourced from. I do this because we have special dietary restrictions and certain farms cater to that. Sometimes we get lucky, usually we don't. I spoke to Chef Dan over the phone who was a wealth of information and took careful time to explain to me which beef dishes would accommodate our preference. He even said he would tack on a note to our reservation so our server would know.
Upon entering Fats we were greeted by the Nicest manager (Morgan) who said she would come by later to talk to us about something special the chef did for us. Later she came by to tell us (customized menu in hand) that chef Dan had not only listed what dishes met our dietary restriction on the sheet, he has also prepared meat from the local farm separately so we could choose any item and have it substituted with that beef! We were blown away!!!! We ordered crab Rangoons, shrimp dumplings (another special order) the Genghis beef, and the imperial rice. We topped it off with banana cream pie, the flourless chocolate cake and coffee. Every. Single. Item was delicious. The beef was tender through and through and we could tell it was a quality cut. Our server was lovely and attentive (I am so sorry I am forgetting your name as I type this ) and the ambiance was perfect. If I could give 5 extra stars I would. My wife and I are big on service so if even the food is amazing but the service is Subpar, we won’t enjoy our time but literally EVERYTHING was perfect! Morgan thank you for having such a wonderful demeanor. And chef Dan, you put integrity into your work, we appreciate you making our 9th anniversary...
