I went to this bar for the second time ever on Wednesday October 18 with a group. One of the bartenders started harassing me while I was being served by someone else. He tried to COERCE me into accepting an order for a half size beer that I DIDN'T ORDER with the threat of calling the police. (Probably a CRIME) He kept repeating it at least a few times while interjecting for no reason till I got into an argument with the other bartender who was serving me about it. When she left and I began speaking with him directly, I got fed up and finally told him to go ahead. Then, when he called the police, according to the police, he LIED and said it was because I wasn't leaving, even though I was actually just disputing an order. (An actual CRIME, lying to the police) I was just defending myself. Despite the bartender's rude and unprofessional, and possibly criminal provocations, I didn't actually do anything. There was no disturbance this time or the time before that merited the behavior or being removed from the property. I only disputed an order that I did not order and defended myself against the bartender's ATTEMPTED COERCION. The bartender laughed in my face about it, and the managers supported him despite his clearly unprofessional and unwarranted behavior. From my perspective, it was clearly DISCRIMINATION. As a result, I suspected the bartender was a racist, probably prejudiced against white people, if not more. I had to explain that they lied to the police and had to speak with them for about half an hour while I waited for my ride. Mysteriously, one of the three police officers, who was also Hispanic like the aforementioned bartender, interjected laughed in the same exact way (while I was being spoken to by a different police officer.)
The entire incident was riddled with COWARDLY behavior, from the bartender and his unwarranted threats to call the police, to the staff who could not be bothered to argue against said clearly inappropriate behavior and alternatively decided to support it in the end. The people surrounding these likely racist individuals probably aren't suspicious of it because they are either too easily deceived, or aren't considered a threat by them. Either way it seems Folsom is filled with people who either don't know or don't care that they're being taken for a bunch of fools. I was only able to drink one 32 oz beer before this incident started and from then on the rest of my night was ruined by staff who are PAID to facilitate their customer's enjoyment with their services at the establishment. Instead, the OPPOSITE was done. My rights were violated, the establishment basically stole from me when they forced me to leave after I barely touched any of the $30 of food I ordered, and it was overall an extremely offensive and disrespectful way to treat a paying customer. The management seems to be too wishy washy and lacking in necessary management skills to be able to recognize when their employees act in bad faith, and in BAD BUSINESS.
Beware of having too good of a time here, especially if any of the staff happens to be somehow prejudiced or threatened by you for their own personal reasons, despite the fact that they are getting paid. Pick somewhere else where the staff can act professionally.
Also: I received harassment over yelp in response to my similar review there the form of a "compliment." Somebody who wrote with the diction of a child knew details which suggested they were told about the incident by one of the present employees. As far as I know, the establishment does not care and will not hold themselves or their obviously immature and unprofessional employees...
Read moreWhile I was in the parking lot two weekends ago, I watched a small party of people leave through the side door. Evidently this is very much against the rules, as a staff member (who claimed to be a manager) began screaming and trying to fight one of the people in the party. After apologizing for leaving through the side door, he was called homosexual slurs, told to kill himself, and then challenged to fight several more times. He was wearing a scarf and the guy was extremely upset about him doing so. At this point, multiple staff members were needed to restrain the "manager". I'm going to assume the manager was drunk as he was slurring words and became enraged to the point of violence within seconds.
I've been coming to this dumpster fire of a bar for over a decade, usually not by any choice of my own but because friends wanted to go. I've seen plenty of people and things that shouldn't be allowed in public happen here and I've never seen anyone who did these things get yelled at or treated the way these people were treated the other night.
Do yourself a favor and don't endanger yourself, your friends, or your family, and find somewhere else to go.
update: I'm now being accused of being an ex-employee or competitor. I specifically signed up for Yelp and started using Google reviews just to make this public, so I find it pretty amazing that you can accuse me of something like that. Not surprising that you'd react like this considering the experience I saw a few weeks ago. There's another person who posted about the exact incident on here so please stop trying to deny that it's true. I've updated my review to include details only about this specific experience and I want to clarify that another reviewer has even been apologized to for this incident. I'm not hiding behind a computer screen but there is absolutely no way I'll ever be going anywhere near your dangerous bar again. Your unprofessional and unhinged response here says more than...
Read moreTL:DR- the bartender was ABSOLUTELY out of line and would've been fired if it was my employee. The management didn't seem too concerned about her actions.
Long story: I went to fetch 2 beers. First time in, the bartender played on her phone for 5 minutes, then went into the kitchen. Didn't even notice I was there. So, I left to bowl a frame. Come back a second time. Asked for two beers after finally being noticed. She said ID was needed by both people. Ok, no problem- let me go get him. Third time in we both showed ID and asked for a beer. "Stout please" I asked. "Which one?" "The one on the left" I responded. "I don't know which one because it's new" while mumbling 'you f** d" as she poured it. She rang us up for 19.48. Her unprovoked and unprofessional attitude warranted nothing more for a tip other than the change. I told her to keep it, so she gathered it up AND THREW IT AT ME. Seriously? I asked for a manager over her actions. He seemed to not be too concerned over the situation. "I'll review the video tape and look at her body language" to which he never came back when we were there there for another hour. It's almost as if he sided with her over this. Being a business owner myself, this would ABSOLUTELY be a termination over the way she acted towards a client if one of my employee's did this. Completely unacceptable.
Understanding that what I received was completely not my fault, I went back in and told her that whatever issues she has in her personal life is effecting her, to not take it out on other customers...... And she STILL defended what she did as if it was justified.
Blown away....
