The food from Ruchi Folsom location was horrible. We were calling to see if they were open, and they didn't answer. We decided to drive there and they were open. They said they just opened even though the hours of operation on Google and their site references a different time. It happens, that's okay.
There were no customers at that point. We ordered 2 lamb dishes and 1 chicken dish. The gentlemen who took the order didn't know the dish name. 5 mins later, the chef comes out to verify the order. Then, 2 mins later, they said that they had a lamb left for only one entree. Mind you, they said they just opened.
We were asked to pick one lamb dish. We were talking amongst each other to see what we would do, and the gentlemen said, "You want both, okay let me talk to the chef." That was a nice gesture, but if there's no lamb for both, how can you make it work? Clearly, they would skimp us on the lamb.
He came out 3 mins later saying they can make both dishes.
The lamb biryani had very dry, somewhat old looking lamb. Explains why there was only "enough lamb for one dish." It looked like the lamb was a few days old and the very end peices. It also tasted boiled with no flavor, and we felt somewhat sick after eating it. The biryani rice barely had any flavor or color to it.
The other lamb dish only had a few lamb pieces.
The naan was not even cooked and was all ripped. The layer of each naan was ripped and seemed like it was chewed on. It also didn't seem fresh and store bought, which is sad because it was worst than anything you would find at a grocery store.
The rice on the side was not basmati rice and seemed like it was made in a rice cooker and not the usual fluffy rice you get at many Indian restaurants.
The Ruchi in Folsom is not good, probably the worst indian food I've had in a long time! The Ruchi in Natomas is better, but they clearly do not have any consistency between both locations, nor does it seem like they have the...
Read moreWe had an awesome experience with Ruchi yesterday! We ordered 3 dishes for 20 people for a party at home - samosa, malai kofta and okra masala. All 3 were very freshly made and awesome tasting. The manager has really turned this place into a top notch place in my opinion. Srinivas was so cordial while taking the order as well as keeping the food in the trunk during pick up. He took special care giving us explicitly clear instructions of how to open the hot containers, while keeping the hot food in the car himself! The food took 20 minutes longer to make than delivery time so he even asked us come pay later! I'll say hats off to Ruchi for this awesome customer service and gr8 food quality! It was such a refreshing experience and change from the past for the better!! Thank you Ruchi for being able to change my impression about Indian...
Read moreWe went to Ruchi Indian Cuisine on July 27th around 2pm. Waiters didn't bother to welcome us. We had buffet. There were only one idli cut in half and one small pathetic looking uthappam. Both items were dry. My husband and myself shared half idli and half uthappam. They did not bring more of these 2 items till we left. The vegetable curry and mushroom paneer trays were empty. They refilled 15 mts after; by this time we were done. Uthappam was bitter, kesari bath tasted like all purpose flour, paneer preparation was made with gram flour, fruit custard watery. We gave $15 tips making a subtle point that we are not poor coming to eat there while they did not bother to have items to eat in a buffet style AND THAT WE WILL NEVER EVER COME THERE OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Added to that I had stomach pain rest of the day...
