Freshe Poke — Restaurant in Forest Acres

My husband and I LOVE Freshe Poke in Columbia, SC! We frequent both the Huger and Forest Drive locations. It is the only place in the city I can order anything sushi-like. (I have a severe peanut/tree nut allergy and Freshe Poke is safely nut free!). It is hands-down the freshest, tastiest poke in the city and it was the only place we continued to order from during the pandemic because it's just THAT GOOD. Recently, my husband and I stopped in to split a bowl for lunch at the Forest Drive location. The card reader was having some technical difficulties and we were incorrectly charged 3 times. I reached out to the restaurant via the "Contact Us" link on their website. Within an hour, I was venmoed the additional amount charged. The food is excellent. The fish has excellent flavor and they have plenty of colorful and healthy topping options! However, the staff who made my bowl didn't even mix up the food and I bit into a huge chunk of wasabi. The workers weren't helpful or knowledgeable at all and acted bothered to serve us. Due to the hostility of the worker (younger females who looked about 17-19 y/o and didn't want to be at work), I won't be going back to this location. The food wasn't worth the judgmental or rude looks. The senior staff (female) who seemed to be the manager on shift, wasn't helpful either and seemed somewhat overly stressed by the 3 people in line. I'm not sure if they just weren't prepared for the lunch rush (although there were only 3-4 customers in the entire restaurant). But this location needs some training help. While the food was good, the price definitely was not. I ordered the Volcano Eruption. It was delicious! The ingredients were fresh and I don't have anything negative to say about the quality of the food. Be sure to read the menu carefully when you order, though. I was a bit confused about their 1, 2, 3 protein prices. I should've asked, but instead I ordered by what sounded good. The Volcano Eruption ended up being 15.00. I also ordered a fountain drink, which was a whopping 3.00. All in all with tax, my lunch was just under 20 bucks. Yikes! It is important to note that the service was good, meaning that the server that prepared my food was courteous.
