Our team put together a great virtual / socially distanced Christmas event at our corporate get together and we ordered the Holiday Baby Cake Box. I was, unfortunately, very disappointed in the baby cakes we got for an office event. The pictures on the website made these out to look very cute and pretty neat. When I got these, most of these were not completely covered, tasted a bit stale, and were very sloppily done. The holiday baby cake box was described as "12 vanilla baby cakes beautifully decorated with wreaths, Santas, reindeer, holly berries, and sprinkles to help you celebrate this holiday season!" We had no wreaths, gingerbread men, or holly berries, which were featured on the site. If I had spent $30-40 on these, I would think that it was disappointing and leave it at that. The taste was fine, just a bit stale. It tasted like day old cake - not a huge deal. But for the two boxes, I spent $60. For $60, there is a certain expectation of a finished looking product. Multiple people asked why we just didn't go to Publix to pick up dessert, which would have cost less, fed more, and tasted better. The insomnia cookies we ordered were eaten faster.

I cannot recommend Ally & Eloise enough! Aleka did a phenomenal job baking our wedding cake last month. Not only were the flavors amazing (we went with an almond poundcake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting), the artistry on our cake was beautiful and unlike any cake we have ever seen. Aleka is an extremely talented baker, artist, and a pleasure to talk with! We also had Aleka bake flavor matching macaroons (half almond and half raspberry) for our guests with gluten allergies and those also did not disappoint! We have never seen a macaroon be as large as these - absolutely worth it and very reasonably priced. We cannot wait to eat the top tier of our cake next year and pass along so many thanks to Aleka for creating a beautiful cake that received so many compliments at our wedding! This is the best wedding baker you will find in the Columbia area - from our cake tasting to the day of - Aleka made our dessert dreams come true.

My best friend purchased a 3 level chocolate cake for my 30th birthday. This cake was gross. It was dry and crumbly as you see in the photo. When I tried to cut into the cake it crunched and all the cake came back up and crumbled. Honestly seemed like they purchased a frozen cake and just wrote on it. The frosting was hard and dry. It seemed like a frozen cake. I would have been better off making my own from a box. Will be going back and asking them to refund my friend and returning this nasty cake. The worst part is my best friend is a poor college kid who spent probably $70 bucks on this cake because she couldn't be here since we pcs'd. EDIT: Owner called me an apologized profusely. She was wonderful, completely refunded my friend and offered to make us something for the holidays even though I am sure they are swamped with orders right now! Very Very Nice people!

Anyone who has ever eaten Walton's cheesecake knows that it is the best in the world! This recipe was made famous long before Ally & Eloise Bakeshop was born. Aleka happens to be very fortunate that Walton is her mom and gifted this incredible recipe to her! I love to cook and I have tried to replicate this cheesecake but it isn' the same. The crust has crushed pecans in it and I can't exactly figure out the topping. When you pick one up, it must weigh 20 lbs.! It is dense and rich and delicious, and I am sure that there will be as many as you ever want to eat in heaven (if you get there), because it is heavenly!!! Everyone in our family thinks that this is the absolute best dessert in the world! I have taken this cheesecake to church gatherings and invariably, before the event ends, there is a conversation about the origin of the cheesecake and everyone wants to know how to get one for themselves. This is not the only thing we love from Ally and Eloise, but it is my family's favorite. I would like to give a shout-out to the Carrot Cake, which is the best I have ever eaten and my mother's favorite. I always got one for her birthday. It is a beautiful cake as well, very tall and heavily frosted. The cookies are also extra special, the chocolate chips and the hodge podge being our personal favorites. I have thought about writing this review for a long time but I was afraid that the cheesecakes would become so in-demand that I would be unable to get one when I needed it. And I need it often! However, in the spirit of Christmas, I realize that I should not keep this to myself. Merry...

Ordering? Don’t hold your breath: My fiancé and I went here to get our wedding cake. Day of our tasting, we were running 15mins behind, so I called ahead to let them know. I was told there wasn’t a need to reschedule, we could fit everything in the time.

We then tried unlabeled cake samples by ourselves at the table for the majority of the appointment, and were told they were prepping for a tasting directly after ours. At the time I shrugged it off since we were running late.

Near the end of our appt. we were joined by the owner who told us what each sample was and wrote down our details/flavors. She asked me to email pictures of the design (which I sent same day), and said I’d receive quotes.

After a week, I worried I’d sent the design to the wrong email, so I called in. A lady answered and verified they had it, they’d just been busy. I figured I’d just wait and not follow up again. It’s been over 6 weeks with no response, with the wedding in 2 months - 150 guests worth of dessert.

I reached out to another local bakery and received 3 emails from them in the first 48hrs. I discussed design, sampled labeled cake, received quotes, and paid them fully in the time Ally and Eloise has taken to not yet send an email/call, even with my follow up. Additionally, the other’s cake + icing samples are separate so it was much easier to choose combos.

If this is the urgency given to larger orders, I can’t imagine what it’d be for smaller ones. If they’re too short staffed to take orders they should just let you know they’re in-store only/manage...

While visiting my son this past weekend at USC, I decided to swing into the Forest Road location. It’s midterm time and after researching a local bakery for some treats, I chose Ally and Eloise for a little surprise. I walked in an hour or so before closing and met Maria. What a sweetheart!! She was so engaging and very enthusiastic to share all kinds of details with me about the products and the history of the bakery. After choosing a box of goodies, she put a few samples into the box and I said ‘oh no…you don’t have to do that!’ She replied ‘why not? We will have to dispose of any leftover samples at the end of the day.’ What a thoughtful thing to do! My son was skeptical when I gave him the box but after I returned home to NC, he called and told me to only give him these kinds of surprises once in a while because he couldn’t stop eating them! The cheesecake is absolutely divine! And the butter toffee bars are unbelievably buttery and salty and sweet and just pure decadence. My son loved the baby cakes and the lemon bars! Next visit, it will be time to test all those cookies!!! Many thanks to Maria for exemplifying what true customer service is all about! Hope to see you soon when I come to visit my son again!! Best wishes for...
