Ms. Jerrie's Cafe — Restaurant in Forest Park

I live by the K.I.S.S. principle and this restaurant was exactly that! I'm a foodie, but sometimes you just want a good, simple meal. Ms. Jerrie's nailed it!

The place was empty (Easter morning) but the staff was busy making sure all the tables were clean. Everyone was very welcoming so we sat down to peruse the menu. First indication of what was to come was that the menu was short and simple. No extra long descriptions with Top Chef ingredients, just home-crafted offerings. Easy!

We started with hot, fresh beignets that did not disappoint! My husband ordered the shrimp omelet and I got the catfish and grits. Both plates tasted like we could have made them at home, but didn't have to. Simple, fresh, unpretentious. Not salty, yet expertly seasoned. Perfect. You could tell the chef loves cooking and this isn't just his job. He put his heart on these plates. We got to chat with him for a moment and see the pride on his face as we gave him his kudos. His mom is one of the owners, and she was an absolute delight to chat with as well.

It didn't take much for them to convince us to take home two smothered turkey wing dinners. After succumbing to the itis and then going about our day, we warmed and dug into those plates for dinner. Again, big plates of homestyle comfort food made perfectly!

Both breakfasts, drinks and two dinners were only $66! That's unheard of anymore. This is going to be a regular joint for us,...

Our team had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Jerrie's Cafe for breakfast on Sunday and it was nothing short of AMAZING! From the very first bite, you could taste the love and care put into every dish. We ordered a variety of breakfast platters, and everything was absolutely delicious.

The salmon croquettes were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, the cheese grits were creamy and flavorful, and the pancakes were fluffy and golden. The fried chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside—comfort food at its finest! The scrambled eggs with cheese were cooked to perfection and paired so well with the rest of the meal.

The food smelled so good when it came out that we couldn’t even stop to take pictures—we dug right in! It’s rare to find a place where every single item on the table is this good, but they nailed it. The food was fresh, authentic, and packed with flavor. On top of that, the service was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a true soul food breakfast that will leave you full and happy, this is the place to be. We can’t wait...
