La Cabana- Ft. Atkinson — Restaurant in Fort Atkinson

This restaurant is excellent. It is so excellent that I now go there about once per week. The Mexican food is prepared perfectly and served perfectly. They really have mastered the art of preparing dishes that are delicious - especially the way they do shrimp. Youzers! This is great stuff.

It is amazing how they've captured the essence and spirit of the "Wisconsin Fish Fry". I've had a fish fry at nearly every restaurant in this area and the La Cabana has, perhaps, the best. Delicately coated fish, incredible french fries and cole slaw and potato pancakes. Very, very impressive.

The service is top notch. Every time we go there, we are greeted by friendly (genuinely friendly, not the feigned friendly that characterizes many other places) people who smile, chat and seem to be really glad you have chosen their restaurant. Yes, this is the place to go for top-notch Mexican food, or a top-notch Wisconsin fish fry.

Way to go, La Cabana staff/owners. You guys...

Went in on January 20, 2024, a Saturday, around 12:45 pm for lunch. Noticed an employee wrapping silverware in napkins, while eating food! There was only one table occupied, and this same employee seated us right beside the only other table occupied. When we asked for another table, he told us to "Stay Home". We sat ourselves at another table just a few tables from the occupied table, again this employee stated "Stay Home". We left. I can't believe the treatment we received. There was no reason to seat us right next to another table when he could have seated us just one table away. Obviously, he didn't want to be bothered with customers. So...

I'm not sure who or what is missing. The last few times I've been here, the service had gone down. I walked in and sat at the bar, the was a guy there he didn't day anything to me and left, a few minutes later a young woman came to the bar she looked at me and said nothing, then another woman came to the front and they had a conversation before coming to see if I've been helped. I almost walked out because I was there for about 5 min before anyone acknowledged me. I also watched a last walk-in and stand there for a few minutes with the waitress standing, counting receipts before acknowledging her. It wasn't busy, just a huge lack...
