My family and I just spent $120 at this establishment and I can 10 of 10 NOT recommend spending your money here. Upon entering we were met with bad attitudes and stares like "Oh, God, why are these people coming in"? Keep in mind this is three hours before closing. The young lady behind the counter was rude and every time we asked her something nicely she would respond with "what" in this condescending tone, like we were inconveniencing her (we were the only customers). The food was mediocre at best. The brisket was cut the wrong way if it was even cut at all. I basically paid for a pound of stringy roast beef thrown into the bottom of a box and not even cut. Chicken that was dry and tasteless, sausage that was overcooked AND BURNT. Not to mention the fact that all of the meats had to be taken out of saran wrap before they were haphazardly thrown into a box. The ribs, which are tasteless, by the way, still have the God awful membrane stuck to the back of them. What kind of barbecue establishment still leaves the membrane on the back of their ribs? The young man behind the counter literally picked a gallon jug of cold barbecue sauce up off the floor to fill my barbecue sauce cup up. Granted in his defense his demeanor and attitude was a lot better and he actually treated me, for at least a fraction of a second, like a paying customer. I will be sure to tell my friends family and co-workers to avoid this place at all costs. Go down the road to Smok barbecue or Texas barbecue, where they actually treat their customers nicely and actually know how to cook...
Read moreWe walked into Dickey's to order. Wr had never been to a Dickey's before so it was a new experience. The gentleman who greeted us was very nice and explained how the process worked. As I had just had radiation treatments to my neck for thyroid cancer, I look for items on the menu that might be on the softer side because I have a continuously sore throat.
Great, Mac and cheese is soft and that tasted good. Great, maybe some Cole slaw- nothing special but okay, then I ordered my meat.
I clearly ordered a beef brisket sandwich expecting beef brisket to be fatty, soft and moist. WRONG- they didn't get the order right (now we were the only people in the place at the time ) and they gave me a pulled pork pile on a plate, not the sandwich that I ordered! When I politely mentioned to the clerk that I ordered the brisket sandwich she got a little huffy with me. She did say they would correct it but the tone was one basically saying why did you not order it correctly!?!? When the sandwich came, it sure wasn't the moist, fatty brisket that I was looking for! Sandpaper would have been moister. Dry, no fat, on an at least soft bun.
I used alot of sauce just to make the meat more palpable.
We ordered three meals that day. $50 for some pulled pork and some very dry meat. AND they didn't get the order right From the beginning. $7.00 for 3 bags of potato chips. $7 for three sodas.
Do I recommend eating here, never again! Terrible food, poor service, huge prices... Not...
Read moreI've been to this particular Dickey's BBQ Pit on many occasions because it clearly is one of my favorite restaurants here in Fort Collins, CO.
Store Owners Rex and Brenda are friendly, helpful and congenial, as are all of the other staff members.
I like the food, and especially find the ribs to have more meat on them than most other BBQ restaurants. And I like the selection of three different types of BBQ sauce ... "sweet," "regular," and "spicy." Be forewarned, the "spicy" sauce is plenty "spicy," so I just mix it with the "regular" sauce.
But if you eat too much spicy BBQ sauce (or even if you don't!) you can cool down with self-serve, soft-serve ice cream in a cone ... or even in a glass with Root Beer on top!
This Dickey's is spacious, clean, family-oriented, reasonably priced, and they even have secure high-speed wireless internet. The restrooms (at least the Men's restrooms!) have always been clean.
And ... of recent, I've been watching the Bronco's games at this Dickey's because I can actually WATCH and HEAR the game - this is not a Sports Bar, it's a family style restaurant.
I consider myself something of a BBQ connoisseur, (OK ... maybe just a BBQ "enthusiast!) ... with a 10-year BBQ eating history in Texas. This Dickey's will make you smile. Tell Rex and...
