Gilbert’s 17th Grill is, without a doubt, an absolute gem in Fort Lauderdale! If you’re a burger lover like me, prepare to be amazed. I’ve been coming here for the past five years, and the quality, flavors, and welcoming atmosphere have never wavered—it’s simply exceptional!
Let me take you back to my very first visit. My boyfriend and I were blown away by their incredible menu. I ordered the stuffed blue cheese burger with onion rings, while he had the Brie burger with sweet potato fries. We also shared the fire-grilled hot wings, and MANNNNNNN, let me tell you—it was all unbelievably, jaw-droppingly AMAZING! I don’t use that word lightly! Meeting the owner that day was the cherry on top—she was so sweet and friendly, making us feel right at home. The customer service was impeccable, and the prices were reasonable with generous portions to boot. I swore I’d return until I’d tried everything on their menu.
Fast forward to yesterday’s visit, and Gilbert’s continues to wow me. This time, I had the ribs, and the aroma alone was mouthwatering. They were tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend tried the Havarti burger, which was juicy and bursting with flavor. To make the experience even better, we got to meet the owner's son, who has the same warm and friendly energy as his mother—and that strong New York accent that made me feel like I was back home. Both the owner and her son personally checked in on us, showing just how much they care about their customers.
What truly stands out about Gilbert’s is its consistency. Over the years, they’ve kept the same wonderful staff and have maintained an inviting, community-oriented vibe. It’s clear that they genuinely love what they do, and it shows in their food and service.
If you haven’t been to Gilbert’s 17th Grill yet, you’re seriously missing out. Whether you’re craving a burger, wings, ribs, or just good vibes, this is THE place to be. I’ll keep coming back until I’ve tried everything—and I guarantee, you’ll want to...
Read moreI visited Gilbert's 17th Street grill after seeing it on Burgerbeast list of top 25 burgers in South Florida (Which in reality is a top 35 list) and noticing it wasn't too far from where I live. I drove there with a coworker and got the Havarti Burger in a garlic English muffin since it was the one Burgerbeast recommended. The garlic flavor on my burger threw me off and I didn't enjoy it too much. Plus I got well done when I asked for medium well. The beef party was thick. I felt like I had chosen the wrong burger for me just cause it was on a list and decided to visit again and choosing something for myself.
On my second visit the same week I took my sister who also loves burgers. I ended up creating my own burger. I got a cheddar cheese burger medium with mayo-ketchup, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms on an egg bun. She got the exact same thing. What an exquisite burger it was. They got the term right. It was juicy, well seasoned, and delicious with sweet potato fries on the side. My sister rarely finishes big burgers like these in one sitting. She did finish this one since it was so good she didn't want to stop eating it.
I've been here 2 more times and it's been consistent with the quality, taste and service.
This is definitely a tier 4 burger out of 4 tiers, and whenever I have people visiting from out of town or somebody asking me for a good place to get a burger, I'll be taking them here. So good I can't wait to visit again.
Being in a shopping center, it has plenty of parking, and the joint has plenty of seating. You order on the counter and they bring the food to you. The food runners are polite and attentive. Good service overall.
It's worth mentioning they also have a small bakery section with crazy cookies, cheesecakes and regular cakes. The cookie I had was soft but dry. I can bake better at home. The homemade cheesecake was really good and so was the key lime pie. The molten-like cake was ok. But the burgers are...
Read moreBeing a local, we’ve tried this place before. But we weren’t impressed. After almost a year we gave it another chance since we were in the area... and here is our feedback.
For two people we spent $41.09
The price is way too expensive for what you get. Peter Pan in Oakland Park is also locally owned and has an amazing burger.
The red head taking the orders is rude and seems annoyed by customers. I asked for an egg on my burger without runny yolk and I asked if she knew what I meant (because she looked confused) and she said “nope I just clicked no yolk”. Not a big deal but her pure annoyance of us ordering made us both feel uncomfortable.
The staff is really nice to bring you silverware and condiments but please WATCH THE STAFF. Two males were cleaning and sweeping the floor after a table left and then they went right to the silverware drawer under the ketchup and mustard and started organizing it and took some to a new table (without washing their hands.
The owner was sweet - a woman. But she should watch how she talks with customers instead of talking down to us, thinking we were on vacation because I was being fun/light hearted. I feel bad for her that she must feel trapped and negative that she thinks someone being nice and positive is on a vacation and tried to...
