WOW. I'm a local Floridian n this was SO disappointing. 😞
I would like to start with a little background. I am a business owner for 8 yrs, and I'm a retired chef with a degree in culinary arts from New York.
So, I made a reservation for 830pm at the restaurant for 9 people. It was the 10 yr anniversary of losing my dad. My mother, wife, father in law, 15yr niece and daughter, sister, and her date.
I came straight from the job and my wife was bringing my clothes with her. My mother and I arrived first so I walked in with her to check in and have a drink.
As soon as we walked in the hostess was cold, rude and unhelpful. It seemed as though she felt she was doing me a favor. I thought maybe bc the way I'm dressed. Shorts, T-shirt, and boots with a cigar in my mouth so I thought maybe she didn't like my look. 🤷♂️
When I was sat, the restaurant attached a round table with a straight one to accommodate the number of people in the party.
The leaf extender was bent and leaning at an angle and I asked if it could be changed and the hostess came over and snarkly explained in an entirely empty restaurant nothing could be done. Then she lifted the leaf (without even saying excuse me) and said "now you can sit here and you can put someone else at the other end." Ok, not the best delivery but at least the problem was solved.
When we ordered my wife specifically asked if the sauce was spicey on her pork chop. They said no and we proceeded to order. When it came she said it was spicey so we asked for a new one without sauce.
The waiter took it to kitchen and reappeared with the same pork chop washed off! Shockingly I asked for the manager and the waiter came back and tried to justify it. 😤
We asked for the manager as the waiter proceeded to try and justify the washed off chop. The manager replaced the dish and the shop was completely pink in the middle and the last I checked pork should not be served rare.
I'm not even going to mention having to go to the bar where my waiter was talking to request another drink.
I love high end, good food, and normally it is coupled with good service.
In the end it was a horrible experience. Had I known I had picked a...
Read moreI was at another restaurant that had a rather long wait time. My friend and I decided while we waited to look for other restaurants nearby and see if any had a shorter wait. I am not from this area so I let him choose and he chose this one. We saw there was an option to make a reservation, but when we did the earliest was for 8pm. (This was around 7 and we were only minutes away.) He told me to make it just in case so I did, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to call and see what their current wait time was. If it was shorter we would have immediately left and came here. The hostess answered and I said “I was just wondering if you were on a wait right now.” She says “I see you just made a reservation for 8” I said yes I did and she proceeded to put me on hold. When she came back she was extremely rude. She said “you have a reservation already so I don’t know what you want” I said “well if there wasn’t a wait I thought if we came in sooner whether we’d get sat sooner.” She said “well you can come in and wait at the bar but there are other reservations before you so I don’t really know how you want me to help.” Her tone was as if I was the dumbest person alive. I work in the industry. I know how things work. If there is a wait, I will wait. I don’t expect to be ahead of anyone. But there is also such a thing as a walk in. And if there is little to no wait currently then we could have gotten sat before 8. That was all I was asking. She never even told me if there was a wait. Or if it’s reservation only, I get that too, and that’s all she would have to say and I’d accept that answer. But she refused to even bother answering my question, and instead just wanted to talk down to me. I really didn’t understand why I was spoken to in such a manner. I told her “don’t worry about it, we won’t be coming in because I don’t understand why you’re being rude to me when I was just asking a question.” She got quiet and I hung up. I wish I had asked for her name or a manager but I was honestly so shocked at her demeanor that I just wanted to end the call. This was on...
Read moreI've been to Bistro Mezzaluna three times, twice for dinner with my wife at the old location and once with two coworkers for lunch at the new. I had a good time with the Mrs. both times at the old location and loved the food and ambiance. Visited the new location and loved the redesign... but the service received was the worst I have ever received, EVER!
I decided to have two of my fellow coworkers to lunch on 04 Jan 2013 and had a difficult time getting a waiter to the table. One arrived after about 10-15 minutes, took our drink order along with our meal order, and said he would bring bread. 10-15 minutes later, said bread arrived (after the waiter stopped by to inquire if we needed anything). After another 15 minutes, we inquired about our meal, and was told it would arrive shortly. After another 15 minutes, and multiple disregarded inquiries to the waiter about our meal, the couple behind us who arrived 15 minutes prior RECEIVED THEIR MEALS. This infuriated my lunch guests, one of which demanded to speak with the management.
We spoke with someone, who claimed to be the owner, who briefly apologized for the delay, and said our meal would be out shortly, and wished us a Happy New Year. Another 10 minutes passed, and the we again inquired about our meals, the owner came back again, and said they would be out shortly. My lunch guest got a call from work and we had to leave, within 3 minutes of this call (before we could contact the waiter), our food finally arrived (over an hour since arrival at the restaurant). We asked that they pack the food to go, this was met by the owner, again, hastily, wishing us a Happy New Year.
While my lunch guests (both black women) were frustrated and complained about racism, I am hopeful that they are wrong... and they just had a bad day. But from the lack of a quality response from the owner, and the fact they didn't comp the ruined $60 lunch for 3, doubts continue to linger in my mind.
Great food, Great Ambiance,...
