I am from New York and lived in Manhattan for the better part of 40 years. That is to say, I hail from the "capital" of delicatessens. When I first moved down here almost 20 years ago, I tried a number of highly recommended delis, to most of which I never returned. But when I first visited New York Marina Deli, maybe 10 plus years ago, I finally felt I had found a local deli that was reasonably close to my expectations. I returned fairly frequently over the next several years. My yardstick sandwich, one of my own devising, so it is always considered a custom sandwich, is half hot pastrami (or turkey) and half chopped chicken liver, with Russian dressing, with a sour pickle and cole slaw on the side. When done right: heaven! And this deli did it right! BUT! I had not been there in over two years. I recently had a friend go there to order me my favorite sandwich with my usual sides, and he ordered what he wanted, to take out; I live less than 10 minutes away, so it's not as if the time between being freshly made and the time it was consumed was of any significance.
I can only say, this was not the sandwich I was expecting, not even close. The pastrami was tough, the chopped liver was tasteless and even kind of too thin/mushy for a good chopped liver. The "sour" pickle was more of a "half-sour" pickle, and was not even a proper half or even quarter of a pickle; I don't even think it made it to an 8th of a pickle, it was that thin of a strip, which I have never encountered before from any place that serves any kind of pickle. The cole slaw was just a notch above non-descript. The rye bread was just plain non-descript; the crust wasn't very crusty, either. Altho Russian dressing was ordered, there was none on the sandwich, and no container. Oh, well.
To say I was greatly disappointed is to say the least. It's true this could have just been a one-off bad night for them, so one of these days I will go back and give them another chance to redeem themselves, and I'll be sure to go for lunch. And I will report back as to my final verdict: Was this indeed just a bad night; or have they indeed slipped in the quality of their food and preparation? But if this had been my introduction to this deli, it would be one of many to which I...
Read moreIf I could give more than 5 stars, I would! The food here is out of this world! My taste buds were sent!!! Finding authentic NY deli style food in Atlanta, where I am from, is impossible. Nothing compares to deli’s in NY. However, THIS PLACE is the real deal! The atmosphere, the employees, THE FOOD 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 I highly recommend this to anyone!!! I’m so glad I found this place on google. It’s a hidden gem that you won’t see from the street. It’s a short walk from our hotel at The Renaissance. I ordered the Reuben with macaroni salad. It’s warm, juicy, and the corned beef is high quality! I believe the rye bread is house made. It’s so pillowy soft. My husband ordered the daily breakfast special lox, eggs, and onions. He was in heaven! It came with tender breakfast potatoes and a bagel. Holy smokes guys! This bagel was absolutely epic! It was a warm, soft, perfectly made bagel. I mean… I felt like I was in NY. I’m not exaggerating. My mind is blown! I will forever come here every time...
Read moreIf you're in Miami and craving a true taste of New York, rhe NY Marina deli is a must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they take their sandwiches seriously. Piled high with quality meats, perfectly crusty rye or soft hero rolls, and all the classic toppings—this place nails the NYC deli vibe.
Their pastrami is rich, smoky, and tender with just the right amount of fat, and the corned beef practically melts in your mouth. Every bite is a reminder of the kind of sandwich you'd wait in line for back in NYC and enjoy every bite.
Thier service is fast, friendly, and no-nonsense—just like a real deli should be. It’s a rare find in Miami, and easily one of the best sandwich spots around.
Highly recommend if you know what a real sandwich should taste like....
