Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

Afternoon crew sucks compared to the morning crew . . Today was supposed to be get a free smoothie as an introduction to the new Margarita mock tail . We were excited to come try since we come to this location quite often for our morning regular smoothie . . We are medically unable to consume regular sugar so we always ask for Splenda replacement it’s never a problem anywhere. Today they stated they could not do it because it’s no modification to the “free” smoothie . We let them know the reason for our request and the manager or owner Janice says well “you shouldn’t be drinking smoothies then” taken by surprise from her response we say well you have Splenda as an option for sugar substitute for ppl who can’t consume sugar so that doesn’t make sense for that to be your response. She says “It’s Free” it does make sense Splenda cost more you understand that don’t you ? In a very sarcastic tone . She then reluctantly told the associate to just do it with an attitude because she just seemed like she was annoyed by us. Made us feel as if our medical needs were ridiculous. Definitely felt discriminated against. This is usually our favorite spot to come to but not after today. I ordered a flatbread and berry smoothie combo. The two combined made a great meal and definitely would want to go back. I was looking for something somewhat healthy and found this place while I was visiting Fort Lauderdale, the name intrigued me and as soon as I saw the menu it satisfied my hunger and the craving for a nice smoothie on a hot day.

I was with friends and they enjoyed it as well. Taking our names to call out the order when ready is a better system than calling out a number. I like that part.

The only thing I would suggest is improving the guest interaction, like some form of a warm greeting before ordering and giving instructions to wait at a particular area and if the order was for...

If nothing else is available in the area and you have to go here go inside, do not bother with an online or a mobile order.. This was my 2nd try at this place and I ordered at 1:50. I arrived at 2 o'clock and waited while numerous people placed orders at the counter for food, snacks and smoothies, receive their orders, ate their food and left.. Finally at finally at 2:40 someone asked me if I was waiting for something I gave them my name and the smoothie was sitting half made I'm a blender. .
