My family and I have been regulars at this restaurant, largely because of one outstanding staff member, the man with glasses who truly understands customer service. He’s always professional, attentive, and makes every visit enjoyable.

Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, he wasn’t there, and the experience was completely different. The two middle-aged women with bangs who were working showed poor attitude and unprofessional behavior. One got visibly annoyed when I politely asked about something on the menu maybe due to her language barrier, she didn’t understand and reacted with clear frustration instead of patience. Later, when I left a custom tip (which was clearly an option), she made a face and said something I couldn’t understand, directed at me. It felt rude and uncalled for. To top it all off, she didn’t hand me the receipt properly but instead, she kind of lazily tossed it towards me, which felt disrespectful.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time we’ve had a poor experience when he’s not around. Staff like this ruin what should be a pleasant dining experience. Management should recognize and reward the man with glasses, if anything, he’s earned a raise. As for the other two, it’s hard to understand how they represent the restaurant with such...

TLDR: Definitely my "go to" for Korean Chinese. Second location of the original Palisades Park location. It's comfy, it's clean, it's delicious. Get yourself some noodles, some fried pork and jjampong!

I was happy to hear that another location of Hong's opened because the Palisades Park location can get quite busy. Parking is easy, the space is clean, comfortable and tasty as always. It's hard to find reasonably price good food nowdays.

The boiled dumplings are small and full of flavor. The pork is so delicately crispy, the sauce is on the side (because who wants soggy fried stuff) and so addicting. The jjampong has plenty of seafood, the broth is delightfully rich yet balanced with springy noodles.

If you like jjangmyeon or jjampong - this is where you...

Updated - I felt the chef or the ownership was changed. Food quality went down dramatically. Fried rice and soup were too bland and under seasoned. And, Ganjjajang was watery and too sweet without egg. (Understandable, but there was no notice until I asked). The flavors of all dishes we had were not well-balanced. In addition, they charged credit card fee without notice. Well, they might have a story, but I took this as their dishonesty. The total experience of the last visit was so disappointed. Original 5-star review below.

I like this restaurant very much. The food quality is way better than it in Palisades Park. Fast serving. Staffs are professional and kind. Not too bad for parking for...

A jjajangmyeon spot recommended by a Korean friend’s friend👀 The restaurant is spacious and clean. You can find meter parking easily right outside the entrance. $8 for a large bowl of jjajangmyeon is totally anti-inflation. They add many mashed potatoes in the black bean sauce, while only few tiny bits of pork can be found in the noodle. It doesn’t taste very authentic tbh. You can def find better ones elsewhere (I tried some good jjajangmyeon in Queens), but you can’t beat that price. Friendly reminder: Don’t try the spicy jjajangmyeon, unless you are confident with your spice tolerance. What we got: * Jjajangmyeon 짜장면 * Maeun jjajangmyeon 매운짜장 * Kimchi Jjamppong 흑돼지 삼겹살 김치짬뽕 * Shabu Jjamppong 양지살 샤브짬뽕

I’m a vegan. I asked the server if the stir fried bok choy had meat in it. She said no. I ordered two for take out. I get hm start munching w/my chopsticks. Noticed something black. Thought it was a piece of basil or other leaf seasoning….what was it you ask??? A shell from a muscle. What if it was hidden in the food and I just shoved it in my mouth!!!!! Ok, perhaps this was an isolated incident. I tend to be more forgiving b/c I didn’t get hurt. So I put the 2nd order in the fridge for later. Now I’m ready to eat it. I cautiously inspect each bok choy leaf. Guess what I found?!? Another shell. Not going there again and thinking about calling the health dept. This is ridiculous. -k
