Well, except for Myrtle Beach over 20 years ago, I’ve never been to South Carolina. In Fort Mill, SC, for meetings I walked to Empire Pizza from my hotel. I expected to get pizza but instead opted for chicken parmigiana. Well I was in for a huge surprise & treat. I received a heaping plate of spaghetti and three pieces of chicken under a thick layer of melted mozzarella cheese. With two buttery garlic knots on the side. But here’s the surprise - the chicken was 3 pieces of southern fried chicken (boneless). I admit I was skeptical but after the first bite I realized I struck gold. The combo of southern fried chicken topped with a layer of melted mozzarella cheese and a delicious sauce was outstanding. The butter covered garlic knots just added to the craziest, and one of the best, chicken parm dinners I’ve ever eaten. And don’t even get me started on the chocolate cake? Who knew???

The pizza, “Mama’s” with added anchovies, onion, tomato, and banana peppers, was okay, but only okay with no wow factor. It’s a bit disappointing when a place specializing in pizza doesn’t follow basics. If I may suggest a few improvements: tomato addition should be thin, wide slices so it can bake into the pizza properly, not a scattered handful of chunky diced tomatoes. Basil should not be finely chopped pieces put on with the other toppings or it will scorch and lose the volatiles (flavor) during baking; it should be put on when the pizza is done baking but still warm. Lastly, one banana pepper per large slice on a third of the pizza seems awfully slim considering it’s a purchased add-on. Shrinkflation? A few minor quality improvements like this would go a long way to showing they care about their product.

Empire is one of our "go-to" pizza joints in South Charlotte. Food is good and consistent, with various options for everyone. I would recommend going in to order when you can, they have good lunch specials and happy hour specials. This place is always clean and everyone on the staff has always been friendly. Food-wise, we haven't had a bad experience. They don't mess up our orders, and just about anything on the menu has been good. Price is market value. I wish it was a little cheaper, but not too bad it you work it right. Beer and wine served too. If you are driving down I-77, this is a good place to stop for a family meal, use the bathrooms then hit the road again.

This review is really more about DoorDash than Empire Pizza. My experiences dining in have been fine so far. The manager's response to my phone call was less than helpful and it does reflect on Empire's food and service when your problem is met with "I'm sorry....not our problem... contact DoorDash." Never again! I am done with DoorDash. I would rate this as less than one star if it were an option. there is no zero star option. The zeppoles would have been fine, and so would the rest of the food, if it had not taken over 40 minutes to get here beyond the time it was supposed to be delivered. I was called a couple of times by the Dasher, who could not find my house which is on a main road. I've never had this problem with food delivery before. When the pizza, boneless wings and zeppoles got here they were all cold and the zeppoles had gotten soft and mushy. On top of that the seal on the pizza box was up. I'm not sure if the seal being up on the box was an Empire Pizza problem or a DoorDash problem. I don't really care. The manager at empire Pizza apologized and told me to contact DoorDash. (yeah, thanks for that Empire) I was just so horribly disappointed in this that I think I'm done ever ordering from DoorDash again. Empire Pizza is on the edge. I've had great experiences dining in, and I know it was not their fault that the food was cold when it got here. But their manager clearly had no plan to do anything about it. This was truly very disappointing and even worse when I tried to report it Door Dash. The app has a reporting page on the app. I put the info in from a menu, no comment box. They offered me a $6 credit for $40 worth of food. They make it almost impossible to get a human being. When you go to their app to report the issue you've had, it's all automated and no actual person responds to you. Very disappointed and I'm done with...

So sorry to share, because we have always enjoyed meeting up with friends & family for different occasions here. The foods always on point, the prices are good, friendly staff... However, the last two experiences, have left us, never to return… We had the same miserable bartender/waitress, unfortunately that has ruined Empire of fort mill for us… The first experience, was meeting up with old friends for a birthday lunch, and the birthday girl ordered a glass of champagne. The glass came out flat, and she changed her order to a glass of red wine. No big deal right?…. WRONG the server didn’t seem to think so, we were treated with annoyance rather than compliance, and not only was she rude, she didn’t even take the flat glass of champagne off the bill. Even though it was not drank, and we asked her to take it away several times. It was very purposely done. In return, when writing the tip, I subtracted the amount, still honoring the 20% but minus the glass, of flat, un drank champagne that she rudely never & purposely did not take away…. Second time meeting up, we were sat at the table by the same waitress, saying, and I quote “ oh yeah, I remember you“… said very rudely, yet again. And when I say, for no reason, I mean no reason. Myself and my friends have always worked in the service industry so we’re not rude people nor do we deserve that kind of treatment. Once sitting there a little longer, and waiting for the rest of our group to arrive, she made sure to make us as as uncomfortable as possible. For example, she removed a birthday gift that we had put on the table behind us over to the counter, keep in mind, there were at least 5 to 6 tables empty, and we were not taking away from the table being sat at. Long story short one person ordered, we let him eat and then we all left and came to Kingsley and...

These wonderfull people / this wonderful company decided that.... when approached by a customer with a full untouched pizza in hand and advised that the food did not match the receipt and the order received was improper (politely) , customer was told to "LEAVE NOW" as the worker pointed toward the exit door very rudly.

Customer politely declined to leave.

Customer stated " you may refund me or remake the order to match the reciept"

Worker states " ok, we are calling the cops now"

Customer stands by. Once cops arrive they ban customer from store with a no trespass because " the company does not want that customer to come there any more and they do not need a reason to ban a person"

Great job guys. You allowed your testosterone and superior mentality to Take a loyal customer and create a situation very harmful for future business. Believe me when I say " for the remainder of my days I will share my story with EVERY LIVING SOUL THAT WILL LISTEN, until of course someone there works to make this right"

By the way, for transparency, I ordered a pizza with sausage and pepperoni. Once received I went home. I opened the box and realized my pizza had mushrooms and onions on it. I went back to the store immidiately but the restaurant had closed for the evening. I knocked on door but employees just looked at me.

Therfore, next business day I walked in and explained what happened, pizza in hand untouched. That is when the derogatory situation took place.

This could have been / should have been SUCH a humane and simple misunderstanding and fix, but instead they decided to behave as shown above.

I have eaten there for years with no issues...
