I am a frequent customer of this location and always go there for dinner. Although the service has been slow now and again, I never had a "bad" experience there. Last night I went in for dinner and looked at some of the breakfast items. I decided on my usual dinner entree, but told the server I would be back the following night to have a breakfast item for dinner. The manager on duty was nice and he checked on me twice, as well as having a nice chat when I went up to pay. The server was awesome and gave great service.
I went to the place the next night for breakfast and the manager and server from the night before were not there. I ordered the AMERICAN cheese omelet with bacon, home fries and rye toast. I told the server to please make it a 2 egg, not 3 egg omelet, but put the same amount of cheese and bacon you would for a 3 egg omelet. When she brought the plate to me and I started to eat the omelet, I saw nothing but old-tasting crumbled bacon. No slices, just crumbles. The cheese was almost non existent and was cheddar, not american. I called the server over and explained I was not happy with the omelet. I never had breakfast there before and did not know they do not give sliced bacon with it. I have been in the restaurant business all my life and know well enough that crumbled bacon is old bacon that can no longer be served as slices. I flipped the omelet open to show the server how little cheese there was. Looking at the omelet as a circle, the left half had absolutley NO cheese. The right side had one slice on it at best and was the wrong type. The server agreed and said she would fix it.
Three minutes later, I was not approached, but ACCOSTED by Ryan the pretend manager. He comes to the table with the omelet I returned and said "What's wrong with the food?" I explained the same things I told the server and said, "I've been in the restaurant business all my life and any place I ever worked gave you 3 slices of cheese in an omelet." Ryan says "Says You!" Then follows it up with "You can't come in here and expect Bob Evans to make things the way YOU say so! Those types of things would be an extra charge" No one said there would be an upcharge and if they did, I would have agreed to it, because I want things the way I want them when I go out to eat! After all, I ordered a $9 BREAKFAST plate!
It was obvious this guy has little managerial experience because he treated me like a POS and spoke down to me twice!. All he had to do was come over and say something like " We're sorry you were disappointed with your meal. The crumbled bacon is the way Bob Evans does it. However, we would be happy to give you sliced bacon for an additional charge. As for the cheese, I agree there was not enough on the omelet and will have him put more in the next one." THAT IS HOW A MANAGER MANAGES! It blows my mind how the experience in the same restaurant could be so vastly different within 24 hours. It goes to show you that it depends on who is managing things. Well, Ryan, the want-to-be managerl...I WON'T BE COMING BACK UNTIL YOU'RE IS GONE! I will be calling corporate on Monday and will see how they feel about...
Read moreI took my senior friend to this Bob Evans, hoping to have good service and food. However, unfortunately, as soon as we walked in the door, that was not the case. After waiting a bit to be seated with no sign of the hostess, I had to flag down the only employee available that I could find: a woman sitting on a bench on her break.
Despite there being a number of clean tables in the restaurant, she seated us at a dirty booth that was in the process of being cleaned. It took more than five minutes of waiting for the table to be cleaned, during which my senior friend, who has constant discomfort and limited mobility from arthritis, had no where to sit but an empty table. The restaurant was not that busy at the time, and they had plenty of staff working, but for some reason none of the employees seemed to notice us standing there waiting. When the booth was finally cleaned, we got a waitress, Ashlee, to take our order. Our drinks were also delivered relatively swiftly.
However, after that, again, for some reason the wait staff, and in particular Ashlee, seemed to forget that we were even there. The wait for our food wasn't bad, but no one came by to refill my friend's coffee, or to check on us after eating our food. Additionally, my senior friend was very bothered by Ashlee's behavior, which she described as "disinterested", "not looking her in the eyes", and more. Due to this, my senior friend, who paid the tab, did not leave a tip for Ashlee.
While some of the food was good, including my macaroni and cheese and the mixed fruit side, my main entree of the turkey-bacon sandwich tasted bland and unappealing. The cheese was not fully melted, and the turkey [meat] itself was almost cold. To put it lightly, it tasted like a sandwich I would have easily made for a much cheaper cost at home, and was certainly not of restaurant quality. Had I known what I was going to get, I would have ordered something different. My senior friend also did not eat most of her plate of strawberry banana crepes, as she spent most of the time waiting for someone to return to refill her coffee.
In the end, my senior friend got so upset by no one bothering to even ask to refill her coffee, and the absence of Ashlee, that we decided to leave early. Again, as Ashlee was nowhere to be seen, I again had to flag down someone behind the counter for a box for our uneaten food.
Overall, the only thing good about my experience with this location was its fruit and macaroni and cheese dishes. Due to the poor service and waitress behavior, half the food being bland in taste and not being up to par, and the lack of attention to guests, I would likely not choose to return to this location to dine...
Read moreExtremely slow and lack luster service. Wasnt checked on or even offered refills until about 45min after we were sat when our food came out, mind you this is 11am on a Monday it wasn't very busy at all. Then the sausage which I thought Bob Evans was famous for just had a overwhelming pepper and burnt grease taste. I asked for my home fries well done and they weren't even warm let alone well done. My French toast was stale. Couldn't even bite the edges it was so tough and my pancake had no taste at all really. I got a meal consisting of many different things(top dog i believe it was called)they all werent very good. Its a shame this was my first time from moving up north where there are hardly any of these restaurants. It will probably be my last. Both my parents dishes were the same lack luster and barely warm. My mothers sun rise skillet was a paper thin egg loaded with just potatoes mostly. No gravy or sausage really to speak of. My father got two breakfast biscuit sandwiches and he didn't finish even one of them. We were all highly disappointed and mentioned not returning. Maybe I Was expecting too much. Idk. And like I said earlier the service was just not there. We saw our waitress three times, when she took our order. Brought out our order(45min, nearly an hour maybe) Brought our check. That was it. You'd think seeing as how none of use finished even half our meals she would of noticed we didn't like the food and would of been concerned. Oh well. You live and you learn right? I hope anyone who reads this and still goes to Bob Evans has a better experience than we did. Like I said I was expecting something worth remembering, atleast in a positive manner not a negative like I...
