My wife and I love this place. Are we often the youngest couple in the entire restaurant? Sure. Definitely more of an oldster-energy in terms of customers and overall vibe. That said:
The food is amazing.
Skip the next two paragraphs if you don't like steak.
The prime rib is top notch, and the best I have had. I ordered prime rib many times when I lived in Oklahama, and those folks take their steak much more seriously than Hoosiers do xD. The Factory is an amazing exception to rubbery, over-sauced and underwhelming prime rib cuts I have found standard in this part of the country after moving back.
I have also ordered their coffee steak and ribeye. Excellently prepared, though not quite the same level as the prime rib. I would recommend the sister restaurant 'The Gas House' if you are looking for steak other than prime rib.
Aside from the steaks, I also quite enjoy the French onion soup, poutine, and their take on a French dip, which is more of their delicious prime rib heaped into sandwich form.
My wife religiously orders the wedge salad and raspberry chicken, and while it is a bit sweet for my taste, it is a unique and tasty dish.
They have a slew of unique martinis, cocktails, and dessert drinks. They also offer a pretty standard draft and wine list as well as a full bar service.
The service is typically prompt and attentive, with the exception of the lounge area. I almost don't want to bring it up due to the exemplary normal table service, but if you are seated in the lounge area, per my experience, you can expect significantly longer wait times between waitstaff visits. The restaurant does not have an online reservation system. You do need to call, which is a slight demerit in 2023.
All around, one of my all-time favorite restaurants and a must-visit for Fort Wayne natives and...
Read moreIn light of the below review of a one time occurrence, I go to the Factory a few times every month and have had consistent good service and excellent food. Thus I am raising my review to a 4 star.
Don Halls has some of my favorite restaurants in Fort Wayne. Family friendly and reasonably priced too. There prime rib is one of the best. I especially like the Triangle Park, Factory & Gas House. 6/5/21 I recently had a major service issue with Halls taking a reservation. I double confirmed it and they never had it on their books. Sandy said she wrote it down, but it never got transferred to their main book. I learned this when I called to double confirm my original reservation add people and change the time. So I made a new reservation, again I gave them my phone number, but later learned their was a smoke problem at the Factory and they did not have my number to call me? I gave it them on the original reservation and the follow up reservation. Had I not double confirmed I would have showed up with 15 guest and no reservation. Halls needs to not be old school so much and have a set list of questions where they get down information for every customer should they have to cancel a reservation due to a problem with their restaurant. I will continue to go to Halls, they called an apologized, but this put me in a difficult situation that could have been a disaster for my daughters graduation post family gathering. Because of the lack of customer service and the experience I had, I am changing my review from a 5 to a 1 until they once again build my confidence in customer service and organization. You can never plan a major event and have information not be taken down or go with a whim. Halls has been in business too many years to let something...
Read moreThe Factory is an incredible spot for a peaceful dinner that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance set the tone for a relaxing evening. The cozy atmosphere, dim lighting, and attentive service made me feel welcome right away. But let’s talk about the real star of the show, the food.
I ordered the ribeye, cooked to medium, with a side of baked potato and steamed broccoli. Let me tell you, this was pure perfection. The ribeye was cooked exactly as I requested, with that ideal warm pink center and a seared crust that gave each bite a delightful balance of tenderness and flavor. It was seasoned to perfection simple yet bold, allowing the natural richness of the beef to shine through. Each bite melted in my mouth, leaving behind a savory, buttery finish that made it impossible to put my fork down.
The sides complemented the steak beautifully. The baked potato was fluffy and perfectly baked, served with butter, giving it a creamy balance. The steamed broccoli was vibrant green, crisp-tender, and seasoned just enough to enhance its natural freshness without overpowering it. Together, the meal felt satisfying and well-rounded.
The Factory is a place I’d recommend for anyone seeking high-quality food and a serene dining experience. If you’re a steak lover, their ribeye is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back to explore more...
