Horrible first impression at Henry's. We were a party of 6 and were promised a table shortly after walking in. We were told that they were cleaning off a table for us right at that moment and it would be only a few minutes. A few minutes later, they asked us to move to the bar end so people could get through. Ok, no big deal. After 25-30 minutes of waiting for this table, we inquired what was taking so long. It was explained to us that a table of 4 had someone join them, so they were given the table that was promised to us. Nobody bothered to tell us that. In fact, the only person that really acknowledged we were there was the bartender. After they explained what happened to our table, we were informed that 2 tables of 3 were finished and they had their credit cards out to pay. It would be just a few more minutes until those tables were ready and they would seat us soon. After another 20 minutes of nothing I had had enough. I caught the attention of the next person I saw and asked for the owner or a manager. He asked me what I needed. I calmly stated that I needed a manager. His response was, I'm "a manager." I didn't bother to ask what he managed, I at least had someone's attention. I explained our situation and he immediately went on the defensive. He told me if the people at the two tables didn't get up and leave that there was nothing he could do about it. I asked him why our first table was given away in the first place. He didn't know. My next question was why weren't we informed about our table being given to someone else and that our wait time was going to be longer than promised. He had no answer for that either. At this point the 6 of us were ready to just go somewhere else. After we told "a manager" not to bother finding us a table and to get us our tabs, the waitress came to us and said she had a seat for us. We informed her that we would not be staying. She had a very rude response and asked what our names were so she could seat someone else. Thanks Henry's for a terrible start to our Friday night! Another thing that bothered us was that all the managers other than "a manager" avoided us all night. Did they know all along that our table had been given away and didn't want to deal with an angrey customer. Sorry, but I'll never be back and I will inform everyone that asks about my treatment. Also, I had to mark the food and decor as something, but I never got the chance to try the food. Pity, as it looked delicious as the waitresses...
Read moreMy party stopped by here yesterday, Sunday Sept. 7th at around 4:15pm to find the place almost empty except for a few at the bar all talking. We went into the dining room and found a table. A few minutes later here strolled back our sour looking waitress. She laid all the menus on the table where no one had set, never introduced herself or even asked how our day was going. She asked us for our drinks, and Tina asked about sweet tea, and was told that the only choices for drinks were 4, Coke products. Tina ordered a Sprite, and Julie Raines and I ordered waters...for now. I was told that the waitress rolled her eyes at that. We looked at our menus and made our selections, we waited, and we waited, Tina looked at the bottom and back of the menu and noticed that it said that iced tea is served here. We gave them 3 more minutes to come take our orders, and they did not show up. We proceeded out of the establishment, and noticed that they were all still yucking it up at the bar, I told them "we are leaving, we are not paying for the Sprite as we are an after thought back here, and we will NEVER BE BACK!!!" We all went to the Liberty Diner, and we were greeted by a smiling waitress and prompt service and very good food. We wanted to try Henry's because we had heard the food was good, no way to tell when the service...
Read moreHenry's has a nice Midwest feel about it. The menu includes items such as a liver appetizer and a perch basket dinner.
The food is OK for what it is; better than your average bar food, but far from an upscale restaurant. I had the Steak Diane, which claims to be a cut of fillet but is more so just thin slices of loin. It was unique, although a little over priced. The nachos beat the average bar food. No one at the table seemed overly impressed with their meal, but at the same time no one seemed extremely disappointed.
Our waitress was polite and prompt. No complaints. The atmosphere had the trademark laid back Midwestern feel.
The bar was a little limited. The bourbon selection was somewhat lacking. There were only a few beers on draft, although the draft beers available were of decent quality and their bottled beer selection was better than expected with quite a few good beers to choose from.
Overall, I would label this as an average or slightly above average place for Fort Wayne. A decent option for downtown dining, as long as your expectations aren't too high. We may find ourselves back there whenever we...
