Hummus Republic — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

We visited this cozy, yummy eatery about 3-4 weeks after it opened so they were still fine-tuning some things but I will say that I am looking forward to another visit and I am hopeful that this place has a lot of great things going for it and it could become a regular in our rotation! The menu had clearly marked vegan items, as well as GF, if you need that. There are 2 ways to order in-store: at the counter or at the kiosk. You can also order via the app. The kiosk quit working at the end of our order, but the young lady behind the counter didn't miss a beat and jumped in to get it done. The greens and veggies were fresh and the food set up reminded me of the former Core Life (Subway/Chipotle style). You picked your bases, proteins, veggies, hummus, sauces, etc. You could add pitas, pita chips, sweet potato fries, again with multiple toppings. We went at 6:45 pm and they close at 8 pm. They were out of a couple of items, but were able to substitute for us and we were very satisfied with the final products. We had a bowl, pita, street fries, and the tahini shake. The street fries were the surprise hit and the thing I will be going back for specifically next time (watch out for that pepper it is fantastically spicy)! We did see a couple of people walk in and out when the staff didn't hear them come in and the kiosk was still frozen. Again, giving them some grace as they are just getting started...that young lady definitely made the positive difference in our visit! The food was fresh, delicious, healthy, and such a nice change of pace. Where else can you get a chocolate tahini shake!?! Will definitely be coming back to try again! Constructive criticisms... got the street fries - they were tasty, but thought there might have been a little more for $10... also got hummus n chips. The "chips" were plain but tasty. Would have been nice to try them with the zatar as mentioned in the online menu. Arrived home to notice I had plain hummus instead of the olive. The plain was plain. Not my favorite plain hummus... Got the harissa too. Didn't know there was an option for 5 different flavors in the order. There was confusion in the restaurant over whether I could have more than 1 flavor. Online it says 5. Harissa had good flavor, not a lot of heat. The consistency was a bit runny - no way would it hold its shape like in the advertisement. No idea how much was supposed to be in the order. Weight at home in the container was 5.2 oz. Hummus n spreads online said 8 oz. I think in the menu in-store said 6 oz. Looking forward to trying new things when operations are more streamlined.

MORE constructive criticisms... the upcharges for proteins needs to go on the menu board. When everything is listed and no additional price is listed, it's assumed that all options are included in the cost. Also if those items can't be "mixed"/half a protein, note that as well. Not cool when you find out at the end that your bowl is 17 instead of 14 due to mushrooms are 2 bucks extra "because they're vegan" (this was the reason stated) and the street mix u thought u were going half with is now an "extra"... again, can't knock the food... what I...

Well I got the chicken bowl and guy said didn’t come with hummus on it at all , have to pay to have hummus in my bowl !! It’s a hummus place !! Food was cold out of meat except chicken or few pieces of eggplant .. but seriously have to pay to have hummus in a chicken bowl but get up to 3 on a pita wrap ??!! Never go there and will tell people only get hummus on pita wrap but if want hummus in bowl you will be paying $$$. When online menu says get up to 3 hummus but noooo !!oh out of ice for drinks , out of crips chickpeas out of meats except chicken cold , warm chickpeas out of,, couscous was on bottom had to scraped it out so hard out of napkins .. Well, lemonade were out except for the strawberry lemonade, which barely had enough to get 2 cups out was clean in there probably cuz no food or people .. And it was a little after five and you were out of stuff .. And on top of it, I looked up online because I thought well maybe the other republican hummus place I went to it was different. Nope they all say comes with hummus. But NOT this place!! YOUR BOWLS DON’T COME WITH HUMMUS YOU GOTTA...
