We had went to a birthday party and had around 14 people in our party at the time. Our neighbors had made reservations and was asked if it was a special occasion, and she said it's for a birthday party. They said no problem. Our food was good, the wait staff was great. At the end my neighbor had brought nothing bundt cupcakes in to share with others. Even the waitresses joined us in eating a cupcake. After everything was said and done one of the waitresses stated that she was told by her manager that she has to charge us $25 for bring in cupcakes. So I went to ask if this was true and he said yes. He said all the resteraunts are doing it. And that he was told by the owners that this is to be done. And I asked if this was a policy then why wouldn't you inform someone making reservations for a birthday party. Why not say that if they wish to bring somethings like a cake or desert that there is small fee of $25 but that you also could buy from our deserts that we offer. In this case as you see we started out with 14 people and then another table of 10 people came to join our party. So we had the whole back room filled with people that were buying food and drinks, and you mean to tell me that you couldn't have said typically this is our policy that we charge for outside desert, but since you were not informed and brought us business were going to over look this. That is how it should of been handled. I asked if the manager Sean didn't mind bad reviews and if that was worth his resteraunts business, and he said he didn't care. I felt that you shouldn't of sent your waitress to give us the bad news since this was a management decision and should of been addressed by the manager. Where is the customer service in this situation? PS, we asked Henry's and also Mitchell's if they would charge someone for bringing in a cake, and they both said "NO" This made my decision and everyone's else in our party of 25 to 30 people that we won't be back due to this. Was a $25.00 forced charge worth the...
Read moreThe absolute worst restaurant experience I have ever had.
My family loves going to Irish Pubs, so when we saw there was one close to us with good reviews, we were excited to go.
We walked several blocks in the cold from our hotel and were greeted by a sign that said “please seat yourself”. Ok, fine. So we went around looking for a place to sit 4 people and there were none. There were plenty of couples taking up a table for four and plenty of open twos and threes, but no fours.
So we walked around looking. Then we tried to flag down a server. For ten minutes, we couldn’t get a response. Every one just walked on by.
We finally found a table where people were leaving. Great. So we waited patiently there for a few minutes until this bulldog-looking thug (the bouncer) came over and got right in my face (seriously? The first person to talk to us is the BOUNCER, and he comes over to intimidate me? Am I in a mob bar?)
He said we couldn’t sit there because of the kids, we could only sit in family seating. I asked him where that was, he pointed to three tables in the back. Yes, seriously. This big, bustling place and they have THREE family tables. And they were all filled with non-families.
So I get a little annoyed at this and how close he’s been in my face and how tersely he’s been speaking to me, so I ask him to step back. Instead, he gets closer and tells me to leave.
I can not believe that this actually happened. Strong arm tactics in a Irish Pub that advertises being family friendly. I mean, I’m fine if a pub wants to be adults only. But this place advertises that they’re family friendly. They are NOT.
If you’re a tough guy soldier on leave, you might have some fun here. But all reasonable human beings should avoid it at all costs. I can’t believe any business would treat any...
Read moreDelicious food, authentic pub feel but not too cold or warm inside. Just right. I had the corn beef and cabbage which I didn’t want to stop eating but I was so full I had to take leftovers home. But that’s partly because of the asparagus and kale dip. The flatbread chips were crispy edges with soft centers and went so well with the dip which you will love if you are a fan of spinach and artichoke dip. Mind you the dip is a dinner item usually and yet we asked for it at lunch and they were happy to make it for us. Hubby got the Shepherd’s and let me try a bite. I can confirm I still don’t like shepherd’s pie but he said it was the best he’s ever had. He had a tooth extracted a week ago and he was still able to eat it because the lamb was just falling apart. He did get it with the Tipperary cheese on top too. All in all we left fat and happy and took a turtle cheesecake slice home for dessert. We were both too stuffed to eat anything more. Between the two of us we finished the chips but not the dip. I would recommend ordering extra chips right off the bat because our friends that recommended this place needed extra chips too.
Our waitress was friendly and happy to help. She brought my sprite no ice without any issue and even remembered for my refill without being reminded. Which she asked if I needed a refill before I could ask for one. She offered a fresh cup for the road which I asked for just the cup so I could take my current sprite and not waste it. It was such a pleasure to eat there, this will be our go to place when visiting Ft Wayne, IN. I don’t know if we will drive 2 hours just for this place, but it’s quite tempting because it...
