We went here to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. The waitress was slow to attend to us, but was attentive to the people seated right across from us. She started to get better as the chef was frying our rice. Nice lady, but did not have very attentive service in the beginning of our dinner. After starting to eat our fried rice right away and also with everything being cooked, my fiancé found a hair in her fried rice but thought it was hers. Then as I was continuing to eat my dinner, I felt something long and stringy in my mouth. It was a hair and my fiancé’s head had not been near my plate. We knew that the hairs we had found in our fried rice were not hers. The manager ended up speaking with us and took our meals off of our bill, but did not take our daughter’s meal off who had also gotten fried rice. He offered a free dessert or some other food, but we both declined as being nauseous from the whole hair fiasco. He also did not tell the guests across from us, who all had gotten rice from the same stack as us, that we had found hair in our food. These guests had gotten containers to take their leftovers home too. We ended up getting McDonald’s for our daughter afterwards because she was still hungry (and we didn’t let her eat anymore of the hair rice). We ended up getting better service and food at McDonald’s and only had to pay $6 instead of $32 at Sapporo (this was the total after our two meals were comped). I didn’t want to cause a scene because I do genuinely appreciate food service workers, so I didn’t ask for our daughter’s meal to be comped as well and still left a tip. Overall, I will never come back to Sapporo and still feel nauseous 1 hour after finding that hair. It was an unfortunate way to celebrate my...
Read moreUPDATE NOV 2022: We decided to give it another shot. We had made reservations for our daughter's birthday for 6:00 pm. My wife even called this morning to make sure everything was a go. When we arrived at 5:52, the young man at the hostess station told me it'd be "about an hour and a half". The lobby was packed. I told him we had reservations. He responded with, "Yeah, well everyone has reservations and we stopped seating walk-ins because of the amount of people." I asked him what the purpose of reservations was if its a 90 minute wait?!" He stared at me as I asked to speak to the manager. He then said, "If you go to that bar back there you can ask for her." I told him I wasn't walking back there and HE was going to get her. I asked the manager why it was going to be an hour and a half. She said it wouldn't be. I told her thats what the hostess boy had told me. He stood there and lied saying he didn't say that! My wife also heard him say it loud and clear. That kid has no business meeting and greeting guests. You need someone that has some integrity and doesn't lie! 100% LIED!! I am done with this place. 2017: This was our seventh visit to Sapporo's and the first time being disappointed. We were seated along the back wall beside the server's station, so there was a lot of traffic and chaos. It did, however, give us an insight to what the staff talks about and were privileged to their comments about other customers. The ginger salad dressing was more of a watery mayo dressing and wasn't very appealing. My salmon was undercooked and not very pleasing to the palate. However, the Volcano roll and Colts roll were outstanding. I'm not sure if they were good enough to draw me...
Read moreThe food was great, the drinks were good but overpriced. The thief of a waiter stole money and put it in his pocket!! I gave him $40 and he credits me for $30. I complained, and they say they will credit my card for $10 but instead they charged me the additional $10. Still waiting for the refund, I really doubt they’ll do anything about the thief. Hopefully a manager will see this, contact me directly, and fire the thief of a waiter. Not pleased at all!! This use to be one of my favorite restaurants, but not if you allow this stuff!! I’m considering contacting the police as this is theft. $10 is $10, I did not steal from you, and I do not expect a restaurant to steal from me!! And yes I have witnesses and receipts. Fix it and I will make this post right, if not I hope your business goes under!!!
Update..... See management’s reply..... Long story short, finally credited my account the $10 I was overcharged. Not sure what the delay was, but nonetheless it was credited back to me. As far as the waiter, I apologize to you. It appeared to be something that was an honest mistake, but it did not seem like it was at the time.
As far as the food and the service, it was excellent as usual, just wish this unfortunate incident would not have happened in the first place, but we’re all humans and make mistakes.
I am understanding and will give them another chance, and hopefully the manager will honor his word of a gift certificate the next...
