Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Fort Worth

I must say I was excited to finally try Dickey's, the restaurant I hear many people at work tell me is excellent barbecue. Now, I am by no means a barbecue snob, or a picky eater. However, I know the level of quality that most barbecue restaurants in the local area here bring. The first thing I noticed when walking inside was that it was not well laid out for a restaurant, despite it's size. The counter was very close to the door, but that was understandable due to the small size of the joint. However, the drink fountain is placed in a very awkward place, which cuts down the area where customers order their food significantly, and makes getting refills a chore. It took an oddly large amount of time to receive our food, even though there were only two people eating in the restaurant other than ourselves. The meat was very well seasoned, and the sauce was delicious, which is why I'm giving the restaurant two stars instead of one. The most unfortunate thing was that the meat was RUINED by a poorly skilled and/or lazy chef. I ordered the ribs and my girlfriend ordered the chopped beef. However, the meat had been so overcooked that it felt like we were eating jerky. Slow cooking ribs and brisket is a process that is hard to mess up if the meat is seasoned well, but the meat had clearly been left cooking for several hours more than necessary. I will give the restaurant another try on a different day and time, but currently I recommend going to Rudy's, or Bone Daddy's for barbecue...

I want to give you guys a better rating but I honestly cannot as I am super disappointed in this place.

Everyone's excited and distracted because the New Year is here.

My bf and I went through the drive-thru and were in a hurry because we're on a short work lunch.

When we got there, there were 2 people speaking as we we're trying to order. I think one person was having a side conversation and than there was a voice of a lady telling him to keep it down. We didn't mind and weren't rude about it but that's terrible service and y'all are adults, you should be more considerate of your coworkers and customers.

We get to the window, there one large guy with dreads at the counter (the one having the side conversation) and an old Caucasian woman. They both seem busy but we get our food quickly and head out afterwards. I decided to not check my food (huge mistake because I usually always do) and they forgot my sandwich, the most important and expensive part of my meal.

So for lunch I'm having fries and green beans. 🙃

I tried to call to see if they have my sandwich (or at least compensation for it) but the phone rings a few times, then makes a dial-up noise and everytime I call back after that it goes STRAIGHT to a dial tone noise, like the line is busy.. even though the phone just rang?

Will is a very good person I assuming he's the manager when the manager is away.. Very good guy... I purchased a Groupon for this place and while the Groupon was very confusing I still purchased it and expected to use it when I got there the manager that was there was very rude tacky disrespectful even told me that she gave me free food she's disgusting and I felt very embarrassed she made no effort on trying understanding that I was a customer who bought a Groupon and just simply wanted to redeem it she made plenty effort on telling me that she hates Groupon customers because it's confusing.. She used anger to mask the fact that she knew nothing about her companies affiliation with Groupon which was none of my biz I was just their to use my Dang Groupon she would not let me use it was very rude very very rude I don't remember her name but she's the only older black lady with a crazy brittle dry wig on her head...
