Okay so I am re-writing my review.. I thought I had already redone it and realized today that I never saved it. My bad! So, personally, the first time I went here I got the Bacon Jalacheeto Popper one and it wasn't my jam. For me I just couldn't taste the star of the show as well as I would have hoped but I also can't do a huge amount of spicy so I believe this was just a case of accidentally ordering one that wasn't for me but it wasn't that it was bad... I think it just wasn't a great way to start out for someone who has never been before. I have come back several times since and am actually craving one right this very moment. The base of all of their fun concoctions is one of the best bread items I've ever tasted.. and that is saying something because I come from a family that is obsessed with good bread. We've always said that if you asked us what our guilty pleasure it.. it's not cake, candy or even lobster... It's a great piece of bread and butter. But I will admit I have quite the sweet tooth too.. I just don't care for things that are cloyingly sweet and the beignets here have such a mild bit of sweet .. the texture is somehow dense yet pillowy and they are so good you could eat them completely by themselves.. I wouldn't even need powdered sugar but it is nice sometimes. My favorites are the plain ones and if I want something sweet the glazed options are always delicious and simple enough to allow the actual beignets shine through.. then I also love the everything bagel seasoning option.. it's savory and meshes so well with the taste and texture of the beignets.
I also wanted to mention how incredible the owner and workers here have been during the times I've come in. They are so kind and friendly.. the shop is small but in a wonderfully cozy kind of way. The owner (as you can see from the reply he left awhile back before I updated my comment) cares immensely about fixing any negative experiences. I'm grateful that I gave this place another try because if I hadn't have I would be missing out. And for anyone new I would give only one suggestion.. try the original, simpler options or go for a flavored one that is definitely up your alley. Don't be afraid to ask the workers a few questions about what the toppings may be like to ensure you don't accidentally end up with something that's not your cup of tea.
Anyways, I apologize for the long rambling review I left but if you haven't had a chance to try the beignets here then you should definitely stop by.. I'm certain you...
Read moreI was disappointed with my overall purchase. Beignets didn't taste as good as my last visit. The lemon icing was overly sweet. The hot cafe au lati coffee was mid! I would go back for the dusty cristo sliders. The combination of meats, cheese, and jam were perfect. Service was decent and I love the colorful New Orleans vibe.
2023 Review- I placed an order over the phone and was told to pay for my items when I arrived. While entering I took photos as the associate at the counter was on the phone. I overheard the associate say her name was D.J. as she was on the phone telling another customer they also needed to pay when they pick-up items. After she ended call I asked if the order on the table was mines. She said yes so I proceeded to check my order first like I do at any restaurant. I was told to pay at the register twice as I was checking to see if my order was correct. I didn't react to D.J. I just finished checking my items and paid. I'm not sure why people are being told they need to pay for their items over the phone. I'm sure customers know their items aren't free. I feel it's best to give customers the total price of their items instead. I do appreciate them taking phone orders without asking for a payment upfront. However, there are many establishments that still do this. I've worked when individuals who are the same personality type as D.J. they can be great workers, but can come off very RUDE at times without knowing it. Regardless of this my order was ready on time and my beignets were absolutely delicious. I will say the first time I came here in 2020 the beignets were horrible. I decided to give them another chance since I was in the area for a event. The explosive flavor and texture of each beignet left me wanting more. If D.J. made my order job well done!
2020 Review-Beignets lacked flavor and some were soft & some a little hard. Customer service was ok and the one beignet that was soft was good. If I decide to go back hopefully I can update review to...
Read moreUpdate- A year later I am coming back to adjust my review sadly. My husband and I used to go often, and have taken many family and friends but unfortunately the quality has changed this year. We know that so many organizations are struggling with ingredient costs but this has led organizations to change their product. We have noticed a decline over the last 6 months here. I would rather pay more to keep the same quality/size. The beignets are smaller than they were a year ago and this has led to them not being the pillowy consistency we loved. Perhaps this could be a dough proofing issue? The flavor is still there but the consistency is not. We decided to spread out our last 3 visits to see if we were just hitting off days, everyone has them, but unfortunately after going back today we have decided we won't be returning. The apple pie beignets were more crunchy than anything and the cold apples were kind of odd on hot beignets and in really large chunks. The customer service is always great, and the flavors are good but like every other restaurant, the size and quality has diminished.
Hands down the best beignets I have ever had! The chocolate filled and pizza stuffed are my favorite. The dough is so light. My only problem is how easy they go down and how quickly I eat 2 before I realize what I have done! Great customer...
