Loft22 Cakes — Local services in Fort Worth

Would not recommend Loft22 Cakes. My wife and I used them for our wedding cake, given the high recommendation from our venue and Google Reviews. But, let me take you back to the cake tasting. We scheduled a cake tasting and requested to taste the snickerdoodle cake, as it was communicated to us via email that this is a cake flavor they offer. When we arrived at the scheduled tasting, the staff was unaware of our appointment to pick up the cake and gave us a piece of white cake topped with amaretto syrup and cinnamon sprinkled on top. It was not good, and we couldn't get a clear answer as to if that is their typical process for baking a "snickerdoodle" cake. After emailing the owner our disappointment in our first tasting, we scheduled a second tasting in which we were promised an actual snickerdoodle cake sample. We finally received our second sample and it was an amazing snickerdoodle cake. With Loft22's redemption following our second tasting, we proceeded to book our wedding cake despite the previous red flags.

Fast forward to the wedding. My wife and I were disappointed that the cake didn't taste like our second sample, in fact, it didn't taste like snickerdoodle at all. We asked some friends and family what flavor our cake was. Some said just a plain white cake, and others couldn't remember. Snickerdoodle is a pretty memorable flavor. So, I called and spoke to the owner, hoping to explain our disappointment. The owner didn't even give me a chance to express my concerns, but rather quickly told me that she 100% knew it was a snickerdoodle cake. The conversation was one-sided and with no opportunity to express my thoughts, I just dropped it.

Fast forward to a year later (our first anniversary). When you book a wedding cake with Loft22, you get a complimentary one year anniversary cake. I called to schedule this and had to leave multiple voicemails, which weren't returned. Once I was finally able to connect with someone after multiple calls, they had no idea what my request of the 'anniversary cake' was and had to pass the phone to another employee for assistance. When asked what flavor, I said snickerdoodle to which she said, "Okay we'll do snickerdoodle or amaretto." I said I would really prefer it to be snickerdoodle since that's what our wedding cake was, supposedly. They told me my total would be ~$70, which I questioned given our email agreement stated it was complimentary with our wedding cake. Luckily, another employee knew it was complimentary. So, we scheduled the pickup for this last Saturday at Noon.

My wife and I arrived and when we asked what the cake flavor was, they said "amaretto." I expressed that since our wedding cake was snickerdoodle, we wouldn't be accepting the amaretto cake, as previously discussed on the phone. We rescheduled the pickup for an actual snickerdoodle cake to the following Tuesday at 3PM, which was after our 1 year anniversary, so unfortunately, we did not have a cake for our anniversary. I arrived at the scheduled time on Tuesday, and this time they didn't have a cake prepared at all??? I was met with many excuses, and was told they would deliver a snickerdoodle cake to my house that evening. Once the owner arrived at my house with the cake she said, "Sorry for all the back and forth" and immediately left. So we take a slice out of the cake, and it's just a 4 layer white cake, with the only thing tasting remotely like snickerdoodle being the top layer of icing.

TLDR - Absolutely horrible experience with this company. The staff was rude and disorganized, failed to take ownership, and the product was never...

I’m only giving 1 star because her cakes do taste amazing! BUT...I chose to go with Loft22 for our wedding (bride and grooms cake). The experience started great. We had a great tasting and then she made additional flavors for me to try on request for free. WONDERFUL! I showed her exact pictures of what we wanted and she said it was a simple design so I thought it wouldn’t be a problem. The only things I really requested was the simple laurel wreath I wanted on the front of the cake be made of REAL eucalyptus and the lettering be ROSE GOLD not yellow gold. The grooms cake was just a single tier round cake with silver icing (we stressed absolutely no fondant except for the decoration) with a Cowboy’s star in the middle. Easy peasy. All in all it was going to be $760 ish..SO MUCH MONEY..but for the taste and the confidence I had in Tareka I went for it. I paid my deposit and checked in periodically and everything was set in stone. The wedding started at 5 so we agreed that she would be there at 3. We ended up moving the wedding outside at the same venue so she changed her time to 4 so it wouldn’t be sitting in the sun outside for 2 hours before the wedding. Fast forward to the wedding and we have no cake..I let it slide until after the ceremony..so here we are at 530..545. Reception has started and we have no cakes. None of the $760 worth of cake that I’ve paid in full for is at my wedding. I put my best friend on it. She runs upstairs to grab my phone to call her...and finds Tareka setting up the cake in the EMPTY banquet room..(hello the room is empty and had wedding shoes and clothes everywhere..obviously the wedding wasn’t going to be there) immediately she notices the cakes are not even close to what they’re suppose to look like, but at this point the only thing she was worried about was getting them down to the reception. Tareka insisted she was tired and needed a break..but my friend being herself told her to get her a** down the stairs with the cakes to the reception bc it’s already started. Once I was saw them I was so disappointed. The laurel wreath was not real eucalyptus..it was fondant sugar paste flowers. (Which is what turned me off of other much much cheaper bakeries to begin with). And the lettering was so yellow gold it almost looked like brass. And the grooms cake was silver but it was covered in fondant..which is the one of the things we stressed we did NOT want. Instead of just having the star on top she wrote out COWBOYS in terrible fondant letters that she colored blue. Fortunately, it tasted amazing and everyone loved the flavors (wedding was raspberry chambord and blueberries and cream, and the grooms cake was cookies and cream). After all said and done I feel like she completely forgot my event and rushed to pull something together as quickly as possible. I’ve seen her other cakes and they are wonderfully designed with real flowers and what not..but I have to say I was VERY disappointed and I will NEVER go back or recommend them to anyone. I didn’t even get an apology for her being 3 hours late delivering to my wedding!! Terrible terrible customer service and attitude to have towards her customers. EDIT: Alright, so Tareka is a queen. After my initial disappointing experience, she personally reached out to me, apologized and went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience.

She made our wedding cake AND a bonus cake that I surprised my Man of Honor with (our wedding day also happened to be his birthday). Both cakes were beyond beautiful and SO GOOD. Our cake had raspberry chambord and amaretto tiers and my Man of Honor's cake was classic chocolate. Delicious. Amazing. Our guests loved it.

I've been a fan of Loft22 Cakes for years - since their humble beginnings. I used to work at an agency a block away, so I knew that whenever the time came for me to be married, I wanted Loft22 to do the cake. Well, that time is now and I'll be looking for a different vendor to do my cake...

I set up a curbside cake tasting for my fiance and I in May and was told that someone from the store would follow up with me to get the process for a custom cake moving. A few weeks passed and... Nothing.

We live in weird coronavirus times, so I let it slide. I knew that many businesses were still trying to figure things out. I submitted a contact form on the website with a request for someone to call me so that we could get the cake process going... Nothing.

I was starting to get frustrated, but again, coronavirus. Things are weird. So, I sent a message via Instagram to Tareka, letting her know that communication hadn't been the greatest and that I would really like to get the cake designed. She responded fairly quickly and took my phone number, promising to call me the next day.... And nothing. That was a month ago.

In a last-ditch effort, I went ahead and called the shop directly about two weeks ago to inquire about the next steps and left my name and phone number. I was told that I'd be called back ASAP, but... Nothing.

I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed because Tareka's cakes are so amazing, but it just seems like she doesn't care about my business. I'll be looking for other options for my...
