I desperately wanted to like this restaurant, but the experience was disappointing. We arrived during a quiet time with only four tables occupied. Upon asking about the brunch hours, the host informed us it ended at 2 pm, despite the website and sign out front not listing an end time.
My husband encountered a homeless person with a shopping cart in the restroom, and though I informed our waitress, she just offered us waters with no further action or acknowledgment. The drinks were the only highlight—my "Bonded in Blood" cocktail was excellent.
We then noticed we had dirty bread plates under our wrapped silverware —one had hair and the other had food stuck on it. After that, the power went out briefly. When the power returned, we were finally checked on, but our orders were wrong. The waitress seemed ready to exchange plates with another table that had my order, which I'd consider to be unsanitary. We also noticed bread was underbaked (it tasted and visibly looked like dough) we again had to ask for clean plates multiple times (four to be exact).
The manager apologized for the mix-up but didn’t seem very engaged. When our new entrees arrived, they were still disappointing. The carrots were overcooked and covered in goat cheese and pumpkin seeds (which wasn’t mentioned on the menu and I greatly dislike), the au gratin potatoes tasted like they were drenched in nacho cheese, and the chicken was chewy.
I was frustrated by the lack of recovery efforts considering how slow it was. When the server suggested dessert, I declined. However, she later brought us cheesecake bites with a “sorry” note, but it felt like too little, too late.
To top it off, I used the restroom before leaving - one soap dispenser was empty, the other dispenser was hanging off the wall, and one sink was broken. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant due to poor service, cleanliness, and food quality. It felt like an Applebee’s in disguise.
If you want good service and delicious food, I highly recommend Whiskey...
Read moreI discovered Firebirds while vacationing in Durham NC. i loved it so much i search for other locations hoping to find one closer to home in Amarillo TX. Lo and behold this location was soon to be opening and the first one in Texas. I happened to be in town and it has been open about 3 weeks according to our waitress.
We had late lunch here today after shopping, there was only one other table with patrons(who were sending food back as we passed them an we said oh man maybe it’s a sign ) It started out fine , I did find it odd with such an empty restaurant that they sat us the the furthest booth in the very back of the restaurant. Our server was friendly, we spent a good few minutes laughing and joking with him over which appetizer to pick only to have it never show up . I believe it was the manager , he really either just looks disgruntled or was directing that at us because when he brought our food an asked if we needed anything else I said we did not get our appetizer. His very sharp loud response was immediately I’ll take it off the bill or do we even want it . It was very awkward an seemed like he should have reversed that .. starting with “sorry” . Our waiter seemed defeated when he returned an he apologized, I didn’t have the heart to tell him my steak was over cooked .. it was over cooked an sliced .. my friends was medium rare and not sliced .. he said it was because of the sizes .. apparently the smaller size is always sliced an 10 oz is not .. again .. weird .. we eat at a lot of steak houses .. other than ordering steak Diane I’ve never had my steak sliced … he then said I don’t know maybe to check the temp .. which made me laugh because mine was way over medium rare … he then brought us the appetizer wrapped up to go .. the whole thing was just not a good experience outside the fact that our waiter was very very nice and seemed to really trying to please us .. the place itself is very nice looking and clean .. it is a one and done for us primarily due the attitude of the manager or whatever he was an secondly being the food just isn’t worth it .. so many great steak places in the same price range...
