Called ahead to book the room locally to make sure the room was clean had a king size bed and bathtub because my wife was taking treatments and wanted to make sure everything was right and that she would have a nice clean cool place to rest between treatments. Arrived to find the room hot and the TV not working and was told that we had to stay out of the room for three hours while someone came to fix the television when my wife needed to be there to rest before her treatment. Turned down the air conditioner thermostat to as low as it would go at 69 and upon returning the room was still at 76°. We slept uncovered and when I woke up at 3:30 AM discovered the room was still at 76° so neither of us got much sleep. There were only three towels and one hand towel and three washcloths and a small roll of toilet tissue and box of tissue with two or three left in the box which were blue and later found out that meant that was the end of the box. Had to ask for an ice bucket and there were no coffee anywhere in the room or the hotel and no breakfast and staff were less than courteous and upon leaving described our stay and was fully expecting a refund because of the bad room and experience and got nothing but a bad attitude in return . We previously stayed there when my son was training for his Airline career and had experienced similar issues but had decided to stay there because it was close to where my wife was having her treatments. Previously found cockroaches in the ice machines and multiple times had to change rooms because they had been smoked in and or smelled bad or were just dirty. The previous week we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Alliance up the street and had a wonderful experience as well as the week prior we stayed at multiple Hilton Garden Inn‘s on the trip to Cherryville North Carolina to visit my son and experienced excellent courteous employees and nice clean rooms and we’re very happy. In the future we will always find a Hilton Garden Inn and will let everyone know about our awful Experience with Marriott and will not ever give them an opportunity to earn our business ever again. We always received two bottles of free water every time we came back to the Hilton Garden Inn when I asked for water at the Marriott I was told that I would be charged for it. Not one time did anyone inquire about how my wife was feeling although they were told that she was there taking treatments and did not feel well. In addition the room rate at the Hilton Garden Inn was $15 less per night than the Marriott courtyard...
Read moreWe stayed one night over the most recent weekend to celebrate an anniversary and the completion of my young son's swimming lessons. Rooms are very clean and surprisingly quiet on the third floor, even though a storm blew through overnight. Carpets are super plush.
The lighting situation in the double queen room is more of an all-or-nothing situation, so if you are traveling with light-sensitive sleepers, be aware. However, the curtains are amazing at cancelling any outside light for sleeping late.
The pool needs a good cleaning, but with the beautiful landscaping of trees surrounding the hotel and the storm, it doesn't surprise me there was some loose bits floating about. it surely did not stop us from enjoying ourselves immensely. I would rate this pool great for kiddos, as there are four stepped entrances, and a little overflow "moat" for littles along the side.
They have a fantastic outdoor patio for seating options, and a walking path through a nature park behind the hotel (which we did not explore, but want to upon return).
The 'restaurant/bar' is a Starbucks-hybrid with very limited options (think sandwich, burger stuff), but everything was very fresh. You will have to pay for breakfast, but we chose to sleep in instead. They have a mini market for essentials, beer, and snacks next to the lobby as well.
The very best part of this hotel, and the reason we are most likely to return (besides the pool), is the incredible staff. I want to give a shout to David, Janet, and Sammy for making us feel welcome. Brianna and Miss Oneda are some of the best examples of professionalism in the hospitality industry that I have seen in a long time; I adored them. My family's absolute favorite, however is Fernando in the bar. He was single-handedly running the kitchen, bar, and register and handling every request with ease and a smile. He basically bent over backwards trying to please my very tired, very grumpy toddler. We love Fernando!
Thank you, Courtyard & Staff, for an amazing weekend. We made so many new acquaintances and had...
Read moreI stayed here during a power outage at my house during a sever winter storm to protect my young child from hypothermia. When I called to see if there were rooms available I explained the situation and they said there were no rooms available. I then immediately went on Travelocity and magically there was a room available. So I booked it. Only to find out that the showers and toilets are not working due to no water. We stayed anyway because we needed heat. They still charged us for bottles of drinking water! Plus the cafe was closed which means no breakfast. $150 for a room with no water and horrible service. On the bright side I found a single microwave in the lobby. There was a line to use it but at least we were able to go to the only grocery store and get a frozen dinner to heat up. Would not recommend staying here.
Edit: Adding for clarification, after asking, the hotel agreed to prove us one 16 ounce bottle of water per guest at no charge since there was no running water. I suggested they might send someone across the street to the grocery store to pick up some additional bottled water which would only cost $2.99 per pack. They said they were thinking about doing this but they did not. I received an email from management saying they did everything within their power which clearly is not the case and they also suggested I was the only one at the hotel who was not thrilled with their service. I get that it was a difficult situation for all but their failure to provide more than one bottle of water when they could have easily done so is inexcusable for $150 a night. The fact that management won’t take the...
