I work at a hamburger place, tommy's to be exact and recently finished school at le cordon bleu (which I say all the time if I can). I like to try new place which is the chef thing to do that my chef told me at school and at graduation. A friend of mine who is just as crazy about food as me, told me about this place to go and try it. I walked in and was impressed by the setup of the resturant, sadly it was the not the same with the hamburger. Since it was my first time I asked one of the employess, what does everyone order for their first time. It was the double meat bacon cheeseburger is what he said and so I ordered it, you do get free condiments. The prices for each individual thing is horrible i.e (fries, drinks, etc), what was worse is they don't have any combo choices. That's why I believe this location isn't busy even though it is on hulen street, which is right across the street from the mall. The amount of fries are enough for two people, which when your eating a burger isn't that important. Some place's forget that its about the burger, I did like that they used a flat top to a grill. Didn't like that I received two small 4 ounce patties and they put american cheese on it. The chopped onions where a big let down as well as I perfer a single slice or two, I also like my mustard and ketchup on the bottom bun not the top. I did get to talk to one of the cooks to see if they season the grill before they cook, he told me the only thing that they do is put hamburgers on it. No seasoning or white pepper, heck even if they put salt on it before hand would give it more flavor. I have to say that in-n-out did a better job or about close to it, the only thing going for in-n-out is the sauce they put on the burger. I don't think they noticed that fort worth is a meat eating city, with many choices for protiens. Also that we enjoy new exiciting foods, or even choices to make the food out standing. I'm only saying this because I see potential with any place that actually cares about the customer. With being in zagat that means something in the food world, it means people love your food. Maybe you should forget that your food isn't the most important thing, its about finesse which boils down to giving a damn. Customers are also important, food is important but its really about finesse. If you can you do that, then the...
Read moreSo let me tell you about my less than stellar expression with Wanda, the woman at the counter. It's was definitely lame and disheartening. Let me preface things by saying that I am a house less person, so I often experience discrimination. Well, today was one of those days. I first came in and asked for a simple ice water, and I was denied it, saying they didn't have water like that, only bottled water. Which is obviously very clearly not the truth. So I went next to door to quench my thrist, which JM subs gave me no issue. To deny someone water on an 80-degree plus day is inhuman. After I was hydrated and feeling better, I came in place my order of a double bacon cheeseburger and regularsozed drink, $17 dollars, mind you that I could have spent elsewhere. When I came inside the restaurant, she was out from behind the counter, chatting with 2 guys at a table. She ignored me completely, finished her conversation, wiped another table, walked back by the drink fountain, still ignoring and eventually walked into the office/back without taking my order. Literally, a guy had to come off the grill to take my order shout-out him for being pleasant. The food, like at most 5 Guys, is always good, and honestly, fries were less greasy than most locations. My only food complain was that the Coke Freestyle machine needs calibrated or something. Most...
Read moreTried the place for the first time after passing by it multiple times. I honestly don't see how they stay in business. Two grilled cheese two cheese burgers 4 fries and 4 shakes came out to be over $80. I could have saved money and took the family to red robins. The food at five guys was not filling whatsoever. The milkshakes were not thick. The fries were soggy like they are left sitting in water and left this horrible taste after eating them. For the price I paid for the cheeseburgers there should of actually been hamburger on there sandwich not this thin flimsy piece of what looked to be a hamburger patty from McDonald's that was tore to pieces. Both of my kids absolutely love grilled cheese and both said they would rather starve. For anyone out there that was like me and hasn't ever been to five guys do not go. Save your money and go to in and out, red robins, what a burger even. Hell I would rather take my kids to McDonald's and feed them their fake burger meat than spend another dime...
