My recent dining experience at Mexican Inn Cafe left me with mixed feelings, as the restaurant offered a blend of delightful surprises and slight disappointments. One highlight that stood out was the fajitas and the salsa; both were a burst of flavors, a perfect balance of spice and freshness that complemented the entire meal. The salsa alone was enough to elevate the dining experience. Moving on to the main course, the fajitas were a definite win. The sizzling platter arrived with perfectly grilled meat and a medley of colorful, sautéed vegetables. The aroma was inviting, and the taste did not disappoint. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables added a delightful crunch. The dish showcased the kitchen's expertise in preparing classic Mexican fare. However, only some things on the table lived up to expectations. The chips, a staple in any Mexican restaurant, could have been more impressive. They were homemade Fritos. Those are good alone but not suitable for dipping chips and salsa. While they served as vessels for the delicious salsa, they did not make a memorable impression. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, with vibrant decor creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The service was prompt and friendly, contributing positively to the overall experience. Although 85% of people working there were sniffling and coughing, and while I understand that happens, it was unnerving to eat food cooked and served by people who are sick. Thankfully, my server wasn't one of them; she was great. In conclusion, Mexican Inn Cafe offers a flavorful journey with notable highlights, such as outstanding salsa and mouthwatering fajitas. However, the inconsistency in the quality of the chips left room for improvement. Mexican Inn Cafe is worth visiting if you're a fan of well-executed salsa and crave satisfying fajitas. Just be prepared to overlook the lackluster chips for the sake of this establishment's other...
Read moreGreat food. All the employees around me seemed amazing but our server was so bad. Her name was Alexa. She took about 15 minutes to come to the table when we got there. We waited another 15 minutes until we had to ask for chips and salsa. We spilt our drink and didn't know where napkins were so we had to wait for our server to show up another 5-10 minutes after. We ordered with her and the food came out great and hot. Perfect. Except for the fact we didn't have silverware and couldn't find our server for another 5 minutes. We finally asked another guy who seemed super nice. I wish he was our server at that time. We ate everything was great then we asked for Togo boxes. It took a while but not as long as everything else. Here's what really tipped us over. 1. She had an awful attitude maybe because we're young. (Like dropping the napkins on the table when we accidentally spilt our drink instead of asking to help or even looking at where she was dropping them. Also demanding the menu as my boyfriend was handing them to her.) I've been in service industry for 7 years. I've done everything from fine dining to waffle house and in-between. I've even worked at Mexican Inn before. 2. She was the most Unintentive waitress I have ever had. That's not an exaggeration. We felt like we didn't exist. I would understand if she had a lot of tables but she literally had 2. The worst part was when we had to get up and ask someone to get us lids for our sauces after waiting and asking for them for at least 15 minutes and 5 separate times she said she was getting them. She wasn't nice about either. She seemed annoyed that we were asking and not admitting fault that she kept forgetting. I never heard her say sorry at all but instead approach us with attitude. I honestly think she should get fired it seemed like she didn't care at all about her job. I left a 10% tip I would have left a 20% tip but she didn't deserve that. She missed an opportunity usually tip...
Read moreI've been here several times and I usually get the #3 which includes a cheese enchilada (that I get without onions and add cheese sauce) and a chalupa. It comes with refried beans and rice. The rice has corn and carrots in it. Prior to that, they serve 2 types of salsa (one in a black and one in a blue bowl) with their unique chips that are puffy and curled. Regarding the food, I think it tastes great! It is above par for Tex-Mex. I actually can't think of anything on the plate I dislike... My favorite is the rice (I think), but the enchilada and chalupa are so good that I am torn. As far as the salsa (which I should be upfront and say that I only started eating from any restaurant over the past year or so) I really like the one in the black bowl, but my mom prefers the blue bowl. I think the one I like is a bit spicy, but I like the color better and the other looked more runny, so I never really tried it.
On the negative side, the wait staff is hit or miss... Usually leaning on the miss side. Last we went, we waited forever for the waitress to bring anything. We had chips and salsa without water for the longest time. Our food was almost out before it came and we were actually looking for her or anyone to bring us something. This was on a slow lunch time. Then, my mom had requested some more salsa and the lady came from the back multiple times and clearly forgot about it and we had to ask again, which took forever to get. The same thing happened when we asked for a to-go box with the check. It took double the time to wait as it did to get even the smallest thing. If it was busy, I'd totally understand, but it seemed like service was not a priority. Other times it has been MUCH better, but I've never had an experience with the staff where they were friendly enough to make you want to go back (and usually I find that means more than whatever a place is selling). We definitely go for the food...
