Jersey Mike's makes a pretty good cheesesteak, but at this location, the service is horrible. They do not pay attention to special instructions on online orders, at all. A while back, I ordered a steak, and when I got home, found out they didn't follow my instructions about adding lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I took it back, and they acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking them to make my sandwich properly. Then, when I got home, they had forgotten to add bacon, which I paid extra for. I order a steak every weekend, and for the past few weeks I have been going to a different location a bit further from me, and have had no problems. This week, I decided to give the Camp Bowie store another shot. Well, 20 minutes after I placed my order I went to pick it up, and they hadn't even started making it yet. There was a GrubHub driver there who was frustrated at how long they were taking for an order she was picking up, too. There were only 2 people working, but she and I were the only people in the store, and there were no other order slips pending. When I asked if I could cancel my order, placed on the app and already paid for, and get my money back, the man behind the counter started talking fast with an accent I could barely understand, saying he couldn't do it. I found out later that's a lie. He could have refunded me but chose to equivocate. Anyway, when they did finally start making my sandwich, I noticed that they were adding green and red pepper strips, which I specifically asked not to be added. The girl then proceeded to try to pick the peppers out of the meat, as if the taste of them wasn't already cooked into the meat. When I asked for the sandwich to be made again from the start, correctly, I was treated rudely and pretty much had my sandwich thrown at me when it was finally done. This location is the absolute WORST Jersey Mike's I've ever been to. I'll travel a little further to the Hulen location from now on. UPDATE: I was contacted by Daniella at the Camp Bowie location, and they made things right with a free sandwich. Also, the employees who were repeatedly messing up my orders and giving me attitude when I asked them to correct it are no longer working there. I will be returning to this location from now on. It's closer to me than Hulen, and I'm hoping this upward...
Read moreThis was the first time I've ever visited Jersey Mike's Subs and I must say it was really, really good. I had one of the hot subs and it was excellent. Seeing them slice the cheese and meats right in front of you is very unique and fun. Like ordering ham, turkey or cheeses from the meat department and seeing them use the big slicer. The employees were not enthusiastic but were professional and nice. I can't say that I blame them however as the day we visited it was Christmas Eve. I'm sure they wanted to finish, close up and go home to their families. The inside was clean and well maintained. They're fountain drink selection offers Pepsi products, but also Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper as well. They do have 20 oz drinks for sale too. They have 3 main sizes of sandwich: Mini, Regular and Giant sized. The regular is 7 inches and the giant is a whopping 15 inches. If you get regular size then the prices is fairly normal for what you'd get Subway or somewhere comparable. If you go for the giant size however you'll find yourself easily starting in the $12 range. So bring your appetite but don't forget your wallet either. The service was quick and hot sub was piping hot and delicious. I will say however the bread choices here consist of white or wheat and if you have a lot of delicious toppings it doesn't matter. However my brother was with me and he ordered a very simple ham and cheese on white. Nothing else. Yes he's odd, however since the bread is fairly plain it made his sandwich a bit bready. Unlike Subway who has many different flavored breads to cover up the breadiness, this was just plain bread. For most no issue at all, just order a delicious flavor packed sandwich with tons of toppings and dressings, but for those few who like it plain, you may prefer Subway. So beyond that this place was amazing and if you like flavor packed subs with tons of toppings then Jersey Mike's Subs will not disappoint...
Read moreI don't understand how they can make cheesesteaks every single day and still manage to mess one up the way they fubared mine. I'm still sitting here eating as I type this, in order to let the residual heat from my sandwich melt the unmelted and unmixed cheese in my CHEESESTEAK. I had to manhandle it with my bare fingers to actually make it passable and palatable. It was dryer than the Sahara at first, the amount of cheese the meat was lacking. Absolutely unreal.
I don't know if they did a crap job of making my sub because I have an onion allergy and had to special order it or what. I just know I have eaten at Jersey Mike's for years and this is absolutely an unacceptable way to serve a cheesesteak to a customer. Sadly I already mixed it back in, otherwise I would have a picture to provide. Believe me when I say it was a gnarly dry cheesesteak with cheese just haphazardly strewn on top before packaging, like they forgot to add it beforehand. Shameful, really.
*Edit
As an addition to my earlier comment, I want to comment on the mushrooms they subbed in for the onions. They were excessively large slices and they were slimy and tasted off. I inevitably did not finish my sub and am considering giving it to the dogs or the trash. Feels like it isn't even good enough for the dogs; my babies...
