Only 2 stars across the board because the experience wasn't horrible enough for 1, but for what we paid not worthwhile at all.
Place was festive but hot walking in sports bar atmosphere with all the TVs; I hate paying extra for a restaurant to make my meal and it's not even comfortable, but decided to bear with it and iced down with water, too hungry. Place was relatively empty on Sat late afternoon. Drank sweet tea and friend had a tropical mule: he said it was decently good but hardly worth the price. But the drinks were delivered promptly.
Asked for a little more time but wasn't able to see the server again for nearly 10 mins to order; I asked for a recommendation on 3 menu choices, each which would give me a sample spread of things to try including a pasta (and to test the server if they were just going to mouth off the more expensive thing, recommend best value, or actually describe the food he was serving) but server just up-sold to the lobster pasta and I informed him I was "very hungry". He claimed all the pasta dishes were "very large" and stated the lobster pasta was a best seller. So I asked for that. My friend got the "fish and shrimp assembly", a fried seafood sampler.
Bathroom was adequate, a bit of standing water in places but not bad.
Food came out surprisingly quick (which should've been a sign of quality). That pasta was not large at all. Lobster was barely topped on it and it was severely needed for the dish to sail; it was otherwise a spruced up alfredo from a diner with a little shrimp imbedded. I felt lied to by the server.
I tried my friend's food, fries were horrifically over salted to being almost inedible, some were wet or outright soggy, the coconut shrimp was way overcooked, popcorn shrimp had a light spicy kick to hide the fact it tasted like frozen box stuff from a bulk grocery store, and the other shrimp was passably decent. The sweet, tangy, spicy sauce was the only salvation for "the assembly".
A chef came out for table touches, complimented my friend's shirt and quickly turned away. I was currently holding the overcooked coconut shrimp piece and I said something about it but he walked off.
The bill for 2 adults with one alcoholic mix, no appetizer or desert was some change short of $70 for this insult to seafood dining before tip. There was only $1 difference between the highly recommended lobster pasta and fried seafood sampler, what gives? After the chef seemed to brush me off or purposely ignore me, just bit my lip and left quietly, apologizing to my friend for suggesting the place as he paid for us.
Will never recommend. Maybe steamed crab is the only worthwhile thing here as I saw a few people ordering it. I wish a Rockfish Seafood Grill would open up in the area so it can put this place out of business. If you want shrimp, go to Coco Shrimp,...
Read moreI want to start by saying that we’ve been to a Joe’s Crab Shack before…but this was, by far, our absolute favorite visit!! Other ones we’ve been to have been just OK. But this place was AMAZING. We only went because we were craving seafood…& it was right next to our hotel. Since it was the last night of our Vacay, we didn’t want to get out and go far. We were actually a little reluctant to go - but I’m SO GLAD WE WENT. The food. Oh my goodness - the food was INCREDIBLE. We started with the Great Balls of Fire. What a wonderful surprise! They were so crispy on the outside and so creamy with tons of flavor on the inside. My husband ordered the VooDoo Imperial IPA beer, and loved it. It was SO cold. I ordered a Passion Fruit Margarita, and was pleasantly surprised! It was SO MUCH better than just a basic marg. It was packed full of flavor, but not too sweet. It also came with a cute tie dye shaker that I was able to take home! My 10 year old had never had a mocktail before, so she ordered the job-alcoholic Berry & Blues. She LOVED it…plus, she got to keep the cute light up projector cup, which made her super excited. For dinner, my daughter got their chicken tenders, doing extra fries in place of the hush puppies and coleslaw. There were SO MANY chicken tenders. She took it home as leftovers, and ate on it for two more meals! My husband and I made the mistake of ordering the Shrimp and Seafood Ensemble, which is so yummy…but here’s where we went wrong - we BOTH ordered one. So we had our own. We easily could have shared it…& STILL had leftovers!!! It was all delicious - but the fish was my husband’s favorite…& the coconut shrimp was my favorite. The sauce they had for the coconut shrimp was DEVINE. My husband with with the normal fries, coleslaw, and hush puppy sides…& was happy with it all. I subbed the coleslaw for red potatoes. They were good, but could’ve used more seasoning. I do have to stamp that the food wasn’t the only great part of our visit. The atmosphere was incredible. There was a large family near us celebrating a young man’s birthday, who had some sort of disability. The staff came out and sang him happy birthday…& he was so excited, it was infectious. But the best part was how the staff found out that he loved the song “YMCA”. So the staff then performed it, and had him come up with them. He was dancing and having the time of his life! And honestly - we did as well! Everyone in the restaurant was singing and dancing and being a part. Seeing how happy they made that one young man touched our hearts, and brought my husband and I to tears. It was a beautiful, incredible experience…& I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at this establishment. Great job, guys. Everyone - GO HERE. You won’t be...
Read moreThis was by the worst place I could have picked to celebrate my anniversary with my wife. The atmosphere was okay we sat outside traffic was pretty heavy at 4:30 p.m. overall not too bad. The service was great she was attentive and nice. The menu was extremely confusing I had picked something that was only served on Wednesday which is a little dumb because I came on a Friday so why was I giving the menu that had Wednesdays menu, it didn't make any sense at all. The food was the worst Food I've ever had in my life I felt like everything was frozen and boiled then served. The shrimp was overcooked and extremely chewy with no flavor unless dipped in the butter which also barely had any flavor. The crab was gross you couldn't even crack the crab legs, there was green residue all over them as if they weren't washed, and on top of all that I was given more potatoes a piece of sausage and corn rather than serving a decent amount of crab along with it. I also had the strawberry melon Margarita which had lots of alcohol in it and barely any strawberry mellow juice. I Tasted like I was taking a giant shot, I did not drink it and left it. I'm not one to complain and just ate what was given to me I am now feeling sick to my stomach in and out of the bathroom Feeling nauseous and with diarrhea. I was extremely dissatisfied with the amount of money that was spent on such a disgusting meal I ended up paying $113 and paid $118 (after the $5 tip i left to the waiter who attended us she did nothing wrong and it wasn't her fault) after the manager tried to make it right. Not worth it. Might go to the...
