Room 105: A Beautiful Stay, But Life-threatening
I was thoroughly impressed with the property
I stayed in Room 105, and while everything seemed perfect at first, I later realized that there was a dangerous problem. The carbon monoxide from the laundry and boiler room, seeped into the room through the fresh air vents and knocked me out completely. They must of washed extra laundry that day. Less then a couple of minutes I passed out and woke up fully clothed, with my boots still on, and a splitting headache from hell. I was completely disoriented and barely managed to stumble to the front desk water and medicine to ease the headace.
In a daze, I unknowingly went back into the room and passed out again. It wasn’t until morning that I realized what had happened. Thankfully, I made it out alive, but this was a terrifying experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
When I reported the issue, the staff assured me there wasn’t a problem with the ventilation or the boiler room, but I know what I experienced, and I want to warn others. If you're staying in Room 105 (or any room near the boiler room), please be cautious. It’s shocking that this potential safety hazard hasn’t been addressed, and I sincerely hope they fix the issue before anyone else suffers the same fate.
Overall, the hotel is fantastic, but safety should always come first. I hope my experience serves as a warning for future...
Read moreMy daughter and I stayed here last week, October 15-18. The room we were given wasn’t very clean but I didn’t want to complain. The big issue was my daughter had her backpack (similar to a suitcase) with her clothes on a chair which was next to her bed. I was out when she called me frantically saying her clothes had fire ants in them and she had gotten bitten at least 4 times. I went by a store to get hydrocortisone cream. When I got back I had my daughter put her bag on the bed and ants started coming out! I pulled the chair away from the wall and it was filthy back there. Mind you, it’s like a dining room chair, not very big, so should be getting cleaned back there. We shook all the clothes out to make sure all ants were out. We told the front desk who moved us to another room. We were given two water bottles and two breakfasts valued at $7.99 each which was nice. I was told by two different staff members that the manager would reach out to me. Checked out on Saturday, today is Monday, still no phone call. That’s really why I am writing this review. I think it’s really telling how involved this manager is, if he/she couldn’t reach out personally. It was a crazy situation so I would think it would at least warrant a phone call and an apology. My advice if you’re going to stay here, check your room...
Read moreCan't even check people in correctly. Tried to check in here. When I tried to put my card on file for incidentals, it said the card was declined. Tried it again with another. Then another with a different bank. Cards definitely not short on funds. Was on the phone for my bank for an hour, they assured me nothing was wrong and they weren't getting any info from the cards on their end (i.e. the hotel card readers were not communicating info outward). I had stayed at another hotel the last two nights. Card worked fine there. Can't the new hotel just type it in manually? Great question. The hotel just said "we can't do that, we can't do anything to help you." Finally had to cancel my reservation since their card readers weren't working. Also had to cancel an event we had tickets to because all this nonsense took over an hour. Went down a street to a Hilton property and was checked in with no problems in two minutes. Guess what? No problem with my card there. Don't bother with this place. Staff was polite, but definitely not capable, helpful or knowledgeable. Going to avoid Marriott from now on, don't want to deal...
