I hate to give Maggie’s such a terrible review when the place is actually really awesome. But it’s mostly the people that make a place and the experience that I just had was atrocious.
I decided to wait a day or two so I could calm down and write a fair and more level headed account of what I feel was absolutely uncalled for and I hope that management takes a good look at their staff. Strap in, because this one is a doozy.
The wife and I come here from time to time because it’s a nice patio spot with pretty good food and drinks. We decided to come here with some friends and their children who had not been.
It was an early Saturday evening and there was a wait to be seated. No surprise. Friend went to the inside bar and ordered some Don Julio margaritas. Delicious.
After, we were sat fairly quickly. Waitress greeted us in a timely manner, a little snarky with her attitude but whatever. Food was good, atmosphere was great and then it was time for another round of drinks. The waitress informed us that they are doing a special for well tequila margaritas for five bucks. Everyone at the table is old enough to know the problems that come along with a five dollar margarita so we respectfully decline and ask for the delicious Don Julio one we had before.
My wife, an awesome bartender for 10+ years, who was in direct view of the patio bartender saw the well tequila being poured. She alerted the table and we all watched until they were brought to us. We notified the waitress and you would have thought we accused her of theft. The attitude was almost as abhorrent as what she did next.
Of course the manager, Carlos came over and tried to placate the situation and of course now it’s the “scene” on the patio. The wives were so upset about it that they took the children and left.
To add insult to injury, the waitress decided to put us dads in the penalty box. We waited another 15 minutes to close our tabs as the waitress causally chatted with other customers and made sure to add gratuity to the check knowing she messed up. It’s all good though. Y’all knew this review was coming.
Unfortunately the waitress didn’t put her name on the check but hey AMO, I’m not sure if that’s how they did things in California but you’re in Texas now so please act accordingly. As the people who are from here say, bless your...
Read moreWaitresses where amazing, food was great but the manager Carlos ruined not only our evening, but the tables surrounding us as well. We called in a reservation as were told the patio would be closed so we would be sat closer to the bar, I asked if the they another section available since I had a group of kids with us. The manager came on the phone and was very dismissive and rude, but I moved on and kept the reservation. We arrived 10 minutes early waited to be sat and were greeted by Carlos standing in the doorway blocking us from going inside and told us our party would be sat outside. It’s windy 40 degrees and had 1 fully functional gas heater for our table of 14 and the table of 14 behind us. Throughout the meal we asked for additional heater, Carlos told the waitress that they were broken, but wouldn’t come and tell us himself. We asked to be moved to the closed in patio as it started to clear out, again Carlos tells us very rudely that those tables are taken with reservations later that evening ( we then reminded him that we also had a reservation from the literal minute they opened that morning ) he walked away and disappeared again. Carlos seemed to be having either one hell of a day or he was on a serious power trip. None on the staff could answer any questions without asking his permission first and never once did he come out and say anything to us personally. Leaving was not an option as any place you go is going to have a 2 hour wait for a group our size on a Friday night. If you can’t seat everyone inside or provide heat in January tell people you’re booked out don’t give tables to walk ins and screw over your reservation tables, or at the very least be a man come talk to us personally and loose your attitude. We have been to this restaurant for the last 3 year every time we are in town and it’s always a big hit, but after dealing with Carlos on the phone that morning and the disaster of a dinner we had we will take our business elsewhere next time. Great food, great waitress, cool environment, but 1 disrespectful and dismissive manager that forces large party’s that can’t simply get another last minute table anywhere else ruined the...
Read moreA group of us came here on recommendation from friends and it certainly left a lot to be desired.
Food- we had the nachos to share and those were tasty. The burgers and chicken tenders seemed to be about average, nothing special. I will say pickles is not an included in the description but appeared on the burger. Not a big deal, picked it off. The brisket grilled cheese had no complaints. The tequila lime chicken was dry and the corn side was basically creamed sweet corn with some lime and cilantro added. Very strange. Lastly, the biggest problem. The super food salad. Lightly dressed, would prefer dressing on the side to control. The quinoa is raw, very unexpected. More dry chicken on top. Which segues straight into the biggest problem I had with this restaurant…
Service- One of our group members asked to sub his fries for vegetables instead. This was forgotten about.
The person who ordered the salad asked for a side of quinoa since it wasn’t originally included in the salad. She received moldy quinoa. I wish we took a photo show everyone but we didn’t. Honestly, moldy food happens. Not a big deal. The problem? The manager. She originally gave salad 20% off. 20% off for serving moldy food. Then it was priced at the employee discount, $6 off. $6 off for moldy food. We asked to speak to the manager directly versus sending the waitress back again and she came up to us and literally said “Yes I agree the salad should be comped” then stared at us like we were idiots for even asking for that. If she agreed… why didn’t she do it in the first place? The way she treated us was as if we were asking for the entire groups meal to be comped or making a ruckus. It was ridiculous.
Maybe I’m old school but serving moldy food should not...
