As a former restaurant manager, maybe I'm being over critical. But then again, I don't think I am.
We went to the new location in Hudson Oaks. We ordered in a timely fashion, food was fresh and hot, and delicious. So this is more about less than satisfactory things that I noticed.
First of all, half of the girls working the counter or bringing food out had their hair down and not pulled back in a ponytail. This use to be a requirement in the food industry. This is all on the manager for not enforcing what should be a common sense action.
Speaking of the manager, I'm not sure his name but just by his demeanor, I'm assuming it was him. He was working all over the store and actually brought one of our pizzas to us. Very friendly! However, his shirt was soaked to the bone! Have extra shirts to change every so often. I shouldn't be served food from a guy that might've dripped sweat on the pizza.
I saw a young cook walk to the bathroom, and after a couple of minutes, come out and on his way back to the kitchen, wiped his hands all over his shirt and shorts to dry them off. Which tells me they are out of paper towels in the bathroom. Later I went to the bathroom with one of my sons and sure enough, no paper towels to dry your hands. With at least 15 employees on the clock, you can easily have one person, even if its a rotation of people, go check on the bathroom situation. Clean it, wipe it down, take out trash, fill tp and paper towel holders, etc. Again, all on the manager. You can't expect a bunch 16 year old kids to volunteer to go clean a bathroom.
Yes I have more. A drink was spilled at a table behind us. It was quick clean up, no harm. Until as we were leaving, I walked through the area and it was as sticky as you can imagine. Next time, let's grab a mop.
Lastly, I saw another cook bend down in the kitchen. He might've been looking for something, I dont know, but one hand definitely touched the ground. Bare handed, palm to floor. He proceeded to stand up, open and close an oven door with the same hand that touched the ground, then grabbed a phone-in order from on top of the ovens and walk to the counter.
This only got 2 stars instead of 1 because it was delicious. We will probably be back just because ours kiddos love pizza and we've had way better experience with Mama's Pizzas. So we know they...
Read moreOur group was desiring pizza so we decided on this Mama's Pizza. After perusing through the voluminous, delectable topping selections, we opted for the rustic simplicity of half sausage and half canadian bacon.
The take out pizza was ready when we arrived as promised and service was amiable yet efficient. Upon arriving home we opened the box to be greeted by a vibrant contrast of fresh, delicate aromas. The east-coast influenced crust was resplendent with texture and crispness but not overly browned and offered a ubiquitously flavorful base for the pie. It was thin to medium-thin in thickness and suggested the refinement of a mid-protein, finely ground offering from Italy. The edged was rolled to give a distinctive appeal.
The sauce was impeccable - tingly flavors of basil, garlic, oregano on a fresh tomato base delighted the palette while not subjugating the other ingredients. The sausage and canadian bacon toppings hinted of a range-free Duroc that inspired a hearty, meaty yet sumptuous body which in turn lent a avant-garde presentation reminiscent of Bologna or Mantova. The sausage was cooked to medium and embodied spices and seasonings that gracefully wed classical Italian to modern aspirations. The canadian bacon (not ham), aged by traditionally smoking and wet-curing meticulously sourced smoked pork loin, was an exquisite delicacy.
In my experience with other establishments, I've had to add fresh parmesan imported from Parma or Bologna to compensate for the subpar quality of cheese. This was not the case with Mama's as the velvety smooth mozzarella, possibly influenced by offerings from the Campania regions of Italy, crackled and swirled with a rich, creamy texture, abundant with subtle, fresh flavors. For many, it is the decadent cheese that aspires to transport the experience back to a simpler time in Naples or Sicily.
Mama's is the bright flower among pizza...
Read moreWe do business with them all the time and considering they are fairly expensive for a pizza place, you would think the customer service level matches the price but unfortunately after all our dedicated business, today we learned that is not the case. I paid $50 for 1 pizza and an order of cheese sticks and was EXTREMELY disappointed, my pizza had chicken and hamburger on it and I had to pay extra for the toppings but yet had at least 3 slices that didn't have ANY chicken on them. Then, had absolutely no sauce on the pizza at all and unfortunately when I called to speak to a manager the girl hung up on me as soon as I asked for a manager, so I called back and got what was supposed to be a manager named Brent. He had ZERO customer service skills, was very short with me on the phone barely would let me speak, and when I told him of my issues he said and I quote, "well I handed the pizza to the person that picked it up for u and everything looked fine to me." WOW. So Mr. Brent are YOU the one out of $50 for trash or am I because last time I checked I WAS the one that paid for it and the customer NOT you so because you "say" it's fine is irrelevant because your not the one paying for or eating it! I WILL NEVER do business with them again, and that is saying alot because we LITERALLY eat here all the time and have baby showers here etc but yet this has showed me it doesn't matter how much business you bring someone they will STILL treat you as trash and I WILL NOT waste my business or my time with a...
