Yesterday (9/3/15), I went into Subway to order a sandwich. A young guy came out and helped me. While he was in the middle of building my sandwich, another customer came in, so the young guy asked the people in the back to ring me up so I could pay.
The first person who came to register, was some girl with an attitude. All she said to me was "what did you order?", I told her "turkey" and then she walked away. Then a different person came to register and asked me what I ordered again. Again, I said "turkey". The guy rang me up and told me my total was something around $10. I thought that was odd because never before had my 6" sandwich combo been that much. So I pay and look at the receipt and turns out the guy rang me up for a 12" sandwich.
When I inform the guy that my sandwich was a 6", he was like "oh". He had absolutely no idea what to do. He tried to accuse me of not informing him that the sandwich was not a 6", seems like that was his job and responsibility to inquire about. He said he needed to call his supervisor, but before he did, the other guy making the sandwiches informed him that their supervisor was in a meeting. At this point I was really frustrated. I needed to be somewhere and the employees there were taking their time ringing me up and figuring out what to do about over-charging me.
The guy did ask me if I wanted the other half of the sandwich, or a cookie or chips or something, but I didn't so I told him no. He said I could leave my phone number for their supervisor. I tried to explain to him that it was not a big deal, and that I needed to be somewhere. The guy just kept asking me if I wanted to leave my phone number or not. He kept saying "so do want her [his supervisor] or call you or what?". I just told him that I was leaving my phone for his supervisor if she feels the need to call me, she can. [As soon as I left I realized that he would not give his supervisor my phone number.]
Then I went to go fill up my drink, but there was no ice tea so I had to settle for something else because I was not going to ask the employees their to do something about it.
Now this might seem like a small mishap to some people but I was already frustrated that day and I was not prepared to be confronted by the person ringing me up. I had more serious matters on my mind. Obviously, this guy should not be in charge of handling refunds or customer issues. Why was there not someone who could handle refunds and customer issues at the store? That seems irresponsible to me.
Furthermore, the lack of customer service in the surrounding fast food restaurants is astounding. I had an issue with the Jimmy John's, just down the street on Western Center, which is what lead me to Subway that day. If all the fast food restaurants near me are lacking customer service, then it should not be hard for at least ONE to rise above and be better than the rest.
This is extremely frustrating and disappointing. Get it together.

Read moreThis place... I mean it's a Subway so low expectations but man. I've been here a few times, never got to leave with a finished product (completely out of bread, out of cheese, no lettuce) but today really took the cake I'll never go back.
As I walk in a woman not in uniform is wiping down the soda machine area. Cool, manager probably was just stopping in and decided to pitch in or something.. long walk from the front door, she looks at me says nothing, another employee heading toward the front door makes eye contact and looks away... Did I grow a 3rd eye or something?
Get to the "order here" area. Guy behind the counter looks and me like he was looking through me, didn't say a word. I said "hi", and waited. Nothing. Ok,
"can I get 2 foot long on Italian herbs and cheese?". He starts looking around the bread areas, slowly
"we out. Ran out a few hours ago, I forget... I need to make more. White?
"Sure. One of these is Chicken bacon ranch, the other BMT, both with provolone".
Nope, had to remind him of the cheese, and the subs each step of the way. Ask for light mayo, and mustard... Nope 4 fat stripes of both. He clearly doesn't understand how to use gloves, and he bumped the underside of the cutting board/counter a few times, never changed the gloves. Sub poorly put together the bread was breaking while he was trying to close it.
Manager chick at counter stops him, tells him to change his gloves and the globs of mayo and mustard have covered the entire outside of the bun and wrapping paper. Manager "no no no.. just stop, but put the meat on wrong it ain't gonna close right. Change your gloves you're making a mess."
Me, "no is right, he might as we're not even bother with the gloves after touching the underside of that counter as much as he did then touched my food with the same gloves"..
Manager, "yeah, he's gonna change his gloves and..."
Me. "No, I don't care what he's gonna do because, no, I'm not even going to.... (Voice trails off as I walked out without food).
I'm all about a second (in this case more than 3rd chance, it's close to home) but when I leave a place cause they can't make my food, or can't make a submarine sandwich without risking getting me sick.....
Read moreEvery time I walk through those doors to pick up an order, I'm always delighted to see it's hot, or cold, but ready! This place is an absolute favorite of mine since I started ordering here a couple of months ago, and I think for such a big chain, this location is just fine, even better sometimes. It's Subway!
The staff is more than amiable with the customers, which I'm always looking for in any establishment. The atmosphere is a little drab, and the chairs are a little too uncomfortable in my opinion, but I wouldn't necessarily stay to eat around when this kind of food is best enjoyed on a bench looking out or sitting on a curb. Speaking of the food, it's good as anywhere else, and it's definitely fresh as can get. I can't speak for much else besides the sandwiches, although the cookies and tea look just as fresh to me as well. Even with my complicated orders, I notice that there's almost never any beats that get skipped. That right there is what makes this place a go-to for me. They don't miss.
Regardless, it's a Subway sandwich shop, like many others. This one feels a little more corporate though with its modern environment, and some people might like that just for what it is. I just like it because the sandwiches are big and so is my appetite sometimes. Give it a try,...
