I placed my order and the cashier who said she was knew didn't know how to ring up one of my item so she asked one of the cooks. No big deal she is new. Then she didn't know how to process my payment so had to go ask the cook again. It took over 5 minutes just to put in my order and when I got to pay the iPad in front of me had really high tip percentages. I didn't leave a large tip given the initial experience and it was my first time here I didn't even know how my food would taste.
I sat down waiting for my food and the cook came back and asked me if my food was to go or dine in since the cashier didn't indicate. I told her I did say it was to go and the cook thanked me. About 2 minutes later another person (guess Supervisor or manager?) Asked me if my food was to go or not. I repeated again it was to go.
A few more minutes pass by and the cashier comes up to me and asks me what my entire order was because they weren't sure what it is. I this point I repeated back my entire order and said it was to go.
I went up and talked to the person I assume was the shift manager and asked if my order was going to be made correctly. He assured me it was. Then I told him I wanted my Manchurian to be prepared more stir fried style vs saucy. He looked at me and asked if that's how it was ordered I said yes. He went back into the kitchen with my bag. I am assuming they didn't prepare my food properly as he was back there for another 8 minutes or so and only came out to show me my food and asked if it looked OK.
(Not me but what I witnessed while there while waiting)
People in front of me had their order received wrong and blamed on the new cashier the cook asked the new cashier if she had given a customer their mango Lassi the cashier said no. She gave the Lassi to the customer who returned it saying it had no flavor and didn't even want it anymore.
The food I ordered tasted fine I have no real issues with the food. But the whole ordeal with ordering was just lacking professionalism. It wasn't just me who had issues. To have 3 different people ask me about my order, I've never had that happen to me before. Not that I was expecting it but nothing was offered about their unprofessionalism and the amount of time I had to spend waiting because of their mistakes.
I am sure the new cashier was trying hard and doing her best but I would recommend not having her working the front until she is 100% comfortable using the register and knowing her way around. It's hurting your own business by having her up there so unprepared.
Unfortunately this entire experience just left a bad taste in my mouth I won't be coming back. Spice 8 was good so gave it a shot...
Read moreTabla is tucked away in a small strip of stores and when we walked in I first noticed the bright decorations. My first impression was good and loved the decor. It’s inviting and appeared very clean. The aromas were great and made me even a little bit more hungry. You order at the counter and then they bring the food out to your table.
Now their menu is large and for a guy like me that doesn’t eat Indian food much, it took me some extra time to digest it. So many choices. Luckily my wife was along and has more experience. The employees were so friendly and helpful. I’m not a big hot/spicy fan so they comforted me and said all the food could be made more in a mild flavor.
We chose the garlic Naan bread and tomato Shorba for appetizers. The soup was extremely hot so we had to let it cool but the first taste was spectacular! I loved it. Not too spicy and had a little creamy texture that was very tasty. The Naan bread was a HUGE plate and we ended up taking 1/2 of it home. It was hot, fresh and really good flavors! Some of the best I’ve experienced.
For our entrees I had the Indo Chinese Hakka with chicken and it was AMAZING! I loved every bite. The noodles are thin and the spices were perfect. They give very healthy portions here too. My wife had the Tikka Masala and she loved hers. The rice was cooked perfectly and the sauce/chicken was so good. I took several bites. Once again a large portion and she took 1/2 home.
I wanted to try the desserts but I just couldn’t since I was so full.
For a non-Indian eater this will be on my list to visit again and try...
Read morePaper plates, plastic utensils, and food served in take-out containers!! Seriously? Anyway, the food itself wasn't good either. The Chinese fried rice had no salt, and didn't taste like fried rice at all. The chhole had less salt and no flavor. The bhaturas were hard. The coconut chutney served with my dosa had gone rancid, and was a very very small portion. The naan were not at all thick, fluffy and soft like we get in all Indian restaurants. They were thin and flat. You need to do much better, Tabla! Serve your customers on proper plates, and hire a chef who actually knows how to cook Indian and indo-chinese food. It's not that hard, one can cook better than this by just watching YouTube videos. We cook much better tasting food at home and we're not even professional chefs. When we go out to dine, we expect hot, delicious, fresh food served in proper plates and bowls, for the price you charge. Very...
