UPDATE: When I initially wrote this review I downloaded the app while waiting for my food. Downloading the app will currently score you a Free Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich. As you'll see in my review below, this particular menu item was disappointing when I had tried it in the past. However, trying it again today was much better. The chicken had great flavor and was very tender. Seems the food can be inconsistent depending on the day. It's currently batting .500, but I'd definitely try this sandwich again based on the way it tasted today.
We usually come to this place once a month. It's in a convenient location and we get lots of BOGOs in the mail. That being said, I've tried nearly the entire menu, and while I don't typically review "fast food", I've had enough disappointing meals here that it's worth mentioning.
First, what they do well. The customer service is great and the staff is friendly. Their flavored teas are phenomenal and their fried pickles are some of the best I've had anywhere. Their Buffalo Blues Salad is my go to entree, as it's the only safe bet I've found (though the current size of the salad is much smaller and less valuable than when this location first opened.)
Unfortunately, taking price into account, most of the food is sub-par at best. The tenders can be a little tough compared to competitors (Canes, Chicken Express, Golden Chick and Chick-fil-A) and sometimes snap when biting through. I've noticed this multiple times with Chicken and Waffles and again when ordering Tenders/Wings combos.
However, the Wings aren't any better. They are large and juicy, but once you get past the flavor of the sauce on the outside the inside of the chicken doesn't have a very good taste. Ten wings with a large drink cost $14, and while the convenience of a drive-thru is nice, for that price you are much better off going to a Wing Stop.
When they introduced the Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich I was excited to try it. It's not any better. Blandness on a bun, and trying to dump some extra sauce on top just led to the same problem as the wings with bad flavor on the inside.
Raspberry tea, salads, fried pickles and BOGOs are the only reason we continue to come each month. The location is great, but I don't see this lasting very long with all the better Chicken places to eat in the area unless they step up their tenders...
Read moreI live up the street and used to come here more often when the old management was here. It used to be top-notch. Fresh food fast, and hot! Not today. Actually the opposite. Two of us ordered an order of fried okra and a 5and5 all shaken in Buffalo. The okra was amazing. Hot and fresh. The 5and5...bad. Firstly, the tenders came out plain, not shaken as ordered. We had to ask for them to be shaken. What was the fix? To DUMP sauce on top of the pile of tenders. They were not shaken at all. The inside of the pile of tenders were still plain and dry. Also, now the plate of food was SWIMMING in sauce. This is not how we wanted our wings...sopping wet. Moving to the the bone in wings....not 1 single flat. In the past, my bonein orders came evenly mixed. I eat the flats and my friend eats the drums. Not today. The order was all drums, and all ice cold. We had already asked for our boneless wings to be corrected, and it wasn't done properly; so we decided to just order an additional 5 wings ALL FLATS. We did so and paid an additional $9.57. They came out in under 3 minutes. Guess what? Not fresh. The wings we had to buy because the 1st order was not accurate were only hot on the outside. The inside meat and bones were just room temp. These wings had previously been cooked. They were dropped in the fryer to heat them back up. However, not long enough. They were so bad that the sauce was not even soaking into the skin. It was just sliding off the outside skin of the chicken. Overall, very disappointed. The okra was the best part. Justin the employee tried to help, but the kitchen did not make the food right today. Cutting corners is never good. This was not the standard of this restaurant that I am used to. What makes it worse is that we had worked our jobs all day, came home, worked Door dashing, and chose Slims as a break in our Door dashing to have dinner. We ended up boxing all $32.50 of food, and took it home and fixed it ourselves. No one should have to do that after spending that amount of money. Pic attached is of the "fixed" plate of food; and the amount of sauce pooled in the bottom after we told them there was too much sauce from the original...
Read moreMy kids have been begging me to try this place as several kids from their class have recommended it. I was very optimistic about our visit, but things went down hill rather fast. The cashier taking our order was very soft spoken and not helpful considering this was our first time eating here. The price was good, we had 4 meals and 2 sides for about $45. The chicken strips tasted fine, but strips were smaller compared to the size strips at Cains, the house sauce was not great, looked like bright orange mayonnaise and the honey mustard was too sweet and possessed a neon tint. The real issue was that the chicken sandwiches and fried pickles were extremely salty, mushrooms were disgusting and we couldn’t eat these items. So 4 out of 6 items we ordered we basically were unable to tolerate and it was a waste of money! The fried mushrooms were obviously frozen and quick fried, they were a mushy texture, dripping water and grease. Fried pickles were rubbery, salty and dripping with grease as well. It’s like they pulled them out of the fryer and dumped on the plate with no attempt to drain the grease. I read some reviews here and people complained about workers sleeping in the booths. I can’t confirm if the person laying in the booth behind us worked there or not, but they were laying there! I didn’t know if we should whisper to keep from disturbing him as he was trying to rest?!?! I am writing this review about 4 hours after our visit, everyone is now complaining of aches in their belly and feeling nauseous. Hopefully things won’t get worse over night, but I’m gonna break out the pep-to and have it on standby just in case. We had to stop at Chick-fil-a to get something to feed the two who ordered the salty sandwiches, so instead of $45 to feed the family for dinner, the cost to feed family is now $65 and waiting time at the other drive through. I really liked menu options, the verity of sides, location, theme and layout of the restaurant, but the salty/greasy taste and poor quality of food was the main reason I can’t be a...
