This is a unique little spot to grab a snack! The employee taking my order was super friendly. I ordered the poppy seed bagel with salmon schmear and tomato as well as a black coffee. The 817 (like our area code) Roasted Coffee was delicious! It is a local brewery. It wasn’t a burnt taste at all, smooth yet bold. I would call it a medium bold blend and you can pick up the beans from the front entry window.
The bagel with salmon smear was good, almost like a fish salad. I asked if it was made with cream cheese or Mayo, she said cream cheese. She toasted my bagel which gave it a nice crunch. I also ordered salted chocolate chip cookies, those were SCRUMPTIOUS! Additionally, they had snicker doodle cookies and cranberry muffins. I noticed she was about to pop some more cookies in the oven, yum!
I spoke with the owner who said she buys from the bagel company called Forever Bagels because she is from Wisconsin and that’s just her favorite brand. Very interesting! I add that in case anyone wondered if the bagels were made fresh on site.
The deduction of a star is contributed to parking being kind of a hassle. I thought by going first thing there would be spots close to the door but I was wrong. It’s okay, I was prepared in case I had to walk a few blocks. However, if you drive down W. Broadway Avenue you will find more parking spaces. Good thing!
There are grocery items and refrigerated drinks to be bought. Also, there is a print station if you need. Just email your documents OR you can start a print order online. Both websites are listed on my attached picture. Definitely convenient!
It was a beautiful day to walk around downtown and I recommend...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience at Bodega Grocery and Deli. Recently returning to Fort Worth after many years away, the restaurants and bars along South Main were an unexpected surprise. Just south of Hwy 30 and west of 35W, it's easy to access the area and close to other great places on Magnolia and 7th. Even so, I somehow failed to understand what a uniquely special place I have with Bodega Grocery and Deli so close.
As the name implies, it’s a wonderful combination of destinations: truly a grocery, with just about everything needed to prepare a simple to gourmet meal, including wine, or buy a meal already prepared from scratch; convenient store to stop-in and grab a sparkling water, juice, soda, or healthier option . . . or a jar of salsa, pasta, canned good, or quart of ice cream; and deli offering a range of selections, including high-quality, hot panini sandwiches, which include house-made sauces. It does all the right things, with a bent towards health and quality, but not shy away from desserts and good old Dr. Pepper! The staff are friendly and helpful--not an ounce of the pretense you can sometimes find in boutique establishments.
A friend pointing me to Bodega G & D, and was astonished to learn I didn't know about it yet. Better late than never, I found it! For anyone else, I can assure you it's well worth seeking...
Read moreBodega is tucked in so well, that I probably never would have found it if it wasn't for the Elite Week event. It's just down and across the street from the Bearded Lady - where I was just at a week ago!
Upon entering, you get the feel of a small town country store, with shelves and coolers offering a wide variety of food and drink - much of which is health-conscious, keto or gluten-free. As you walk toward the back of the narrow store, you come upon a counter and few tables and chairs where you can order and enjoy a beverage or small bite to eat.
The Salmon Shmear and Everything Bagel were delicious, and the Coffee was strong - to my liking. I have to stop short of a 5 rating, because the first thing that this will be compared to is the Nova Lox Bagel at a familiar national bagel chain, and this is a smaller bagel, that is light on Salmon. Good flavors all around, and I enjoyed the bagel. I just want to provide a fair comp. I'll happily...
